Righteousness begins at loving others as ourselves. The second great commandment. If I love others, then I won't offend them by what I do that I have a choice in doing.

The one who is afraid to eat is weak in faith. But sometimes a brother or sister needs to crawl before they can walk. Our freedom should not cause offense to others. If the music in your house is offending your neighbour...wouldn't you turn it down or off?

Good. Notice BOTH the goodness and severity of God. A Pharisee will see the severity ONLY for unbelievers..not realizing that God judges those who judge.

A saint should know better...and is to live sacrificially among others...thus inspiring righteousness in others. Think of holiness as a fire, and righteousness as the warmth of the fire for others to bask in.

Paul's judgment was from a religious ideology that made him condemn anyone who challenged the standard way that the Torah was being understood. Again, same thing happening in modern churchianity with the gospel.

A righteous man does everything by the knowledge given to him. But the people of God are taken further and by a lack of knowledge of WHAT IS FURTHER, they perish.

Faith is like legs that walk us to the door to ask, seek and knock.

Stop looking down...and start looking up.
Two thoughts on what you shared. Maybe this is my religious mind set of judging others. But I only want to share it with you for feedback. If you say …that’s your judging. Ok. But it impacted me so I want to share it. There is a pastor I listened to…one of my favorites in the beginning of reading the word. I listened to all of his sermons. To me…he was the man!

I’ll share it here because I can’t explain it. If you’ll listen …a little ways in.

In the beginning I thought wow! But now when I listened to it the other day for the first time in a while, it sounded off. I get some people may disagree but listening now this is what stood out…by acknowledging with boldness how much God hates, despises, abortion bloated out in a grandstand of I Will take a stand against abortion because I stand up without fear for what is wrong and aborting children God HATES…the strong acknowledgment of what God HATES…the whole message centered around “few there find the way”. To me …who are called to be lights for the way? Who stands at the entrance and as He told the Pharisees “not only do you not enter in, you keep those desiring to enter in, from entering.” Ironically a pastor (again I’m not trying to bash him as Paul was a favorite) preaches on how much God hates abortion …never considering the judgment of God against those that abort God’s Children from entering in where it’s warned “few find the way”. to me “few find it” wasn’t praise for “few find the way” but meant to scatter the door blocking in “prevent not the little children from coming to Me.” Maybe it’s my judgmental attitude to even question a pastor. But it woke me up to at least how we acknowledge strongly what is wrong —by the words of our own proclamation coming out from our mouths) in what we go up against, when sometimes the very thing we fight against is ourself doing the same exact thing. Like boldly acknowledging God hates abortion. Then aborting His children and calling it not the same as what we say He hates.

Lastly:
“Faith is like legs that walk us to the door to ask, seek and knock.” That is what I was trying to say about the exchange where Christ speaks in Paul to the Corinthians…Paul walking in Christ …stands outside the door…asking, seeking, knocking on the Corinthians door to come in a sup with them. They return “liar” …He stands outside knocking…

Did you know that Jesus died for the sins of the world?
Yes I do. that is how he paid our sin debt so we could be set free from the penalty of sin. and restored to a life with him. But this is not what I see from you
A righteous person doesn't think what he does is righteous.
A righteous person does not boast of how righteous he is or tell everyone to be like him, or even look to his own righteousness. He would look to God.
Only self-righteous people do that.
Like you?
The same goes for believers who think they are righteous based on their beliefs/faith.
How else would we be righteous? If Abraham, one of the great for-fathers had to be imputed righteousness because of his faith. what makes you or anyone else think we do not need the same?
ANYBODY who claims to be righteous is a self-righteous person.
like you! Yes I agree
Anyone who CLAIMS to be humble isn't.
Unlike you.. Yes, I agree here also
A meek person doesn't claim and argue how meek he is. So all your ranting about your own supposed righteousness just exposes you.
Who is ranting about their own righteousness but you? I do not see anyone else puffing themselves or or saying they are righteous people. Only you
Not claiming to be righteous. Do you think God will receive a modern believer who claims to be as righteous as God?
Do you think God will accept anyone who is claiming he is righteous?
There are 2 levels of righteousness...based on the OT standard (righteousness) and the NT standard (holiness based on God's righteousness).
Oh? So God holds different standard for different people?

Even though Paul said we in the NT are saved by the same faith of Abraham as found in the OT? (romans 4)
No. God's judgment will reveal all.
I agree, It will reveal all.

All have sinned and fall short.. That's where we stand apart from grace
It's just that God goes easy on the righteous, the meek, the humble, the poor, the widow, the fatherless...and goes HARD on those who name and claim things that don't belong to them.
All of us are guilty, any one of us who stand before God are guilty. God will not let any of us get away with the sins we have committed, are comitting and will commit. And believe or not. God knows everyone of them, He knows them before we even do that. DO you believe this?
Wrong question. Are you saying that all men of God before Jesus are going straight to hell?
No. I never said this, Please do not say I d. Your the one who said saul was blameless not me..
Saul/Paul was tested on his actual devotion to God...which he thought was genuine...and what was PROVED to be misguided. It's the very same misguided ideas I'm trying to straighten out on these threads. Maybe some people need to be knocked down from their high horse? :phew:
lol.. Paul was saved just like everyone else. Like abraham Daniel. Peter james and john.

just like I was 40 years ago.

You should join us..

The righteous are in the saved nations. Not a part of the light, or a partaker of God's presence... but basking in the light of holiness...from a distance.

Only the kings of the earth can go in and out of the holy city. Much like the saints do now into God's holy walk.

The saints are citizens of the holy city. And no one who is unclean...who lies, names and claims, assumes and presumes has any place in either the holy city or the nations. They will be cast out into outer darkness. They are neither holy...nor righteous...seeing that they sought to destroy the righteous at every turn.
so again, You think you will be let in because of your own righteousness?

Come on man,, We all hear what you say, are you going to deny it?

Oh dear what a mess of hash you are making of something simple. The scripture itself tells us what it means. It is not talking about the unsaved.....only the saved from the nations, ie, those in the Lamb's book of life.......and there is salvation in no other name, no other way.

And this isn't just future either but is what is going on now. (Maybe we could even say it's timeless in a way.) An allegory for the kingdom of God....which Jesus said had come with His advent on earth and is within/among us. There are those in the city now who have died and gone on before us, as well as those of us who are still on earth, bringing our substance and worship into the holy city (kingdom of God/heaven), storing up our treasure in heaven, so to speak, by faith.

There should a reading skills exam before being allowed to post. You have to try to train your mind to only repeat what you have actually read. Only God justifies.

Only God justifies.

Only God justifies.

Are you justified?

Are you God?

In your mind only.

There are three books...read the actual text. Books were opened and another book was opened. That's 3 separate books. Like years and another year mean 3 years. But to add math to your already severely tested reading skills is way beyond what you can handle. So I write this for others with the requisite skills.

I invite you to read the text without thinking you already know what it says. That's how you learn things.

I can't listen to the sermon. It's melodramatic and rife with errors as you would expect for him to be popular.

I think I need to learn how to do cartoon drawings to make some points to some. Some here obviously can't read and also comprehend at the same time. Cartoon drawings help in that they entertain the developing mind even as the text is read to them. :goodj:

You are a sly one. ;) And vindictive. You know I'm trying to get some of you here to see God's love and mercy. But you are blinded by your religious ideology to judge, condemn, and basically misunderstand all the important messages in the bible.

The only righteousness that some of you see is self-righteousness. It's like when one petty criminal shows up in a car to visit another petty criminal. The first thought is...where did you steal it from?

So it is with righteousness...or the lack thereof.

No, it's something that I saw. Not for the first time either, but I don't think I made mention of it before (unless I'm forgetting).

Amen! Heavenly Father, I pray also that you will heal the hearts of those who are broken!

Much love!
Amen. I come into agreement with Mark's prayer, Lord. Father, you are the Lord our Healer....please show your love and heal and comfort your people in the deep areas of hearts that need it, that we might bring more glory to your name and serve you better. You know how and you know why, and nothing is beyond your reach, our merciful and mighty God. Please undertake this, we ask in the name of Jesus your beloved Son, amen.

By God recognizing what HE finds as such in me. I don't justify myself. Will you?
Why will God let you into heaven.

He has twice already. I'm awaiting the apprehension of God INTO Christ the 3rd time. (I hope you are not referring to an afterlife here) I know this will strike you as bizzare.

The liberal gospel says "you don't need to seek, ask and knock...He is already in you,

An unbeliever, would say this isn't true. = The Born again are become "The Temple of the Holy Spirit".

And an unbeliever would say that this isn't true. = "Christ IN YOU, the hope of Glory"...

Whereas a Born again Christian, would say both are True, as Christ is in them...

And Jesus explains it like this..
-
I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

New Living Translation
I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.

English Standard Version
I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.

Berean Standard Bible
I in them and You in Me—that they may be perfectly united, so that the world may know that You sent Me and have loved them just as You have loved Me.

Berean Literal Bible
I in them, and You in Me--that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me and loved them even as You loved Me.

King James Bible
I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

New King James Version
I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.

New American Standard Bible
I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and You loved them, just as You loved Me.

NASB 1995
I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.

NASB 1977
I in them, and Thou in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, that the world may know that Thou didst send Me, and didst love them, even as Thou didst love Me.

Legacy Standard Bible
I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.

Amplified Bible
I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected and completed into one, so that the world may know [without any doubt] that You sent Me, and [that You] have loved them, just as You have loved Me.

Lizabeth, I don’t know who to believe anymore. What I see is epi claiming he has entered the second heaven and waiting to enter the third. (Maybe self denial, maybe true, I don’t know) He claims he is doing all this for our good. To get us to wake up is why he is harsh on you. To get others to open blind eyes. Then you and EG and Marks and others are wanting to help epi wake up and to not be blind. It reminds me so much of the passage where Paul spoke to the Corinthians and they called him reprobate and how they wanted the proof Christ spoke in Paul. Which Paul gives. Saying they(who don’t see still persecuting the body) will know they (by Faith) do not fail, which is for their profit when those (by Faith in Christ) do not fail to open their eyes which are blind, when they do not fail to raise up the dead unto Life. (This we hope, and pray even for your perfection.)

It reminds me of two brothers where both think they are right …where both claim they are enduring hardness of heart as a good soldier of Christ. Look at what’s happening here: it is two, both at odds claiming to endure hardness for profit in hope of entering in.) The topic of this thread is about our weapons are not carnal but Spiritual and mighty for the pulling down of strongholds. One of you(I mean which side is right and fights with the Lord?) is enduring hardness of heart. (Imo) it fits perfectly to me of two brothers at odds. Right here, right now “the battle”. Again…see Paul steadfastness, unshakable, in the face of accusations and when threatened Paul does as Christ instructed and threatens not again, instead Paul as Christ endures the hardness of the ground …when Paul says he trust they will see and know they are those who fail not(it’s not the flesh he trust but God who promised). To me it’s not what Paul sees by sight but waits for by Faith, trusting whom promised “I am able.” Epi to me is right about one thing…it is God that justifies …when two are at odds and both say they are right and Christ speaks in them yet one is hardened ground. God knows the hearts and which is hardened ground. Even when the hardened ground say “it is not I”. It’s only by the power of God …Paul spoke before it happened of good things for them (who accused them) and when those things were fulfilled (come to be made manifest) through the power of God there is “rejoicing”
2 Corinthians 7:13-14 Therefore we are comforted. And besides our own comfort, we rejoiced still more at the joy of Titus, because his spirit has been refreshed by you all. [14] For whatever boasts I made to him about you, I was not put to shame. But just as everything we said to you was true, so also our boasting before Titus has proved true.

This is why I said that passage means a lot to me for instruction on enduring hardness …and waiting and patience and Faith in Him who promised and has entered in before you. I can read it. But I haven’t seen it in real life outside of a book called the bible. I long to see it…the stand fast and He will come and deliver you from your enemies because God is able to make your enemies brothers thereby reconciliation of the body through Christ that He be made whole.
