I'm not exactly sure what you mean by 'Soul Sleep', but I personally take verses like this very literal...Curiosity,do you believe this to be Biblical?
It is interesting that when one is deeply asleep, there is no consciousness of the passing of time, and it seems to be morning an instant after falling asleep at night. Actually, most people don't realise they have fallen asleep until they wake up in the morning.Curiosity,do you believe this to be Biblical?
Or it could be a dead fish (sole), or the sole occupant! Or even someone from Seoul, South Korea! Here's what he means. If you dig six feet under you may find a soul sleeping!

Chances are you might find a S-O-L-E sleeping if the grave digger left his boots behind!
No !
The Soul does not sleep it is always awake, it's a power force one could say.
It may be dormant to one because ones own mind has not made contact with such, out of fear or weakness because the mind is lost in the worldly cares. so they have no foundation to come back to that gives them their own true strength. the worldly only rely on their own carnal strength and that is deranged or stupid like a dog to the Soul.
The Soul when it is in contact with your mind, such does not have one run loose like a Dog.
Honestly, I would discourage Christians from letting certain Denominations have a monopoly on what the definition of Soul Sleep is.
Why should they get to decide what certain words mean? It reminds me of the word 'Woke' in which the agenda now is to make that word mean the exact opposite.
Do people not understand the fact that *Dreaming* is a part of sleeping?
In other words, if the term Soul Sleep included dreaming, then I would say it's True. But because some denomination says that sleep doesn't include dreams, well it just makes everyone look ignorant.
It's like the Christian version of Newspeak.
OSAS is another example. "You're saved, but your not saved. Just kidding... but not really..."
Maybe I should make up my own 'buzzterm' and call it "Soul Dreaming" because that is what I believe is implied by the term 'Sleep' in Scripture...
Genesis 20:3
"But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife"
Genesis 31:11
"And the angel of God spake unto me in a dream, saying, Jacob: And I said, Here am I"
Genesis 31:24
"And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said unto him, Take heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad"
Numbers 12:6
"And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream"
Etc. Etc.
Anyhow, here is what I believe happens to the dead...
The saved go to Abraham's Bosom which is like having a Pleasant Dream.
The Unsaved go to Torments which is like having a Nightmare.
In death, the Soul+Spirit can still interact with God just like in the verses above. And yes, I believe Abraham's Bosom still exists and will continue to exist until the very end. That is another example of the two Dream States.
Now whether someone who is dreaming is conscious or unconscious, I'll leave that up to you folks to decide.

FALSE. You are a soul because you have a soul. But you also have a body and a spirit. And that is clearly spelled out in the Bible. For one thing, you'll find no Scripture that says you have a soul.
FALSE. You are a soul because you have a soul. But you also have a body and a spirit. And that is clearly spelled out in the Bible.
MAN IS A TRIPARTITE BEING
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole [1] spirit and [2] soul and [3] body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thess 5:23)
THE SOUL AND SPIRIT ARE CLOSELY LINKED YET DISTINCT
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Heb 4:12)
UPON DEATH THE BODY GOES TO THE GRAVE BUT THE SOUL AND SPIRIT GO TO CHRIST (FOR THE SAINTS)
And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep [DIED]... And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him. (Acts 7:59,60: 8:2)
NO ONE IS SLEEPING IN HEAVEN
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us...(Heb 12:1)
Paul is here referring to the OT saints in Heaven (within the New Jerusalem). Anyone who is deemed to be a witness is very much awake, alive, and aware. Which means that Soul Sleep six feet under is TOTAL NONSENSE.
I said the truth Enoch111. The scriptures don't say we have Souls. That's not going to change because you want to take scriptures out of context or twist them to mean what you want. It's also true that the scriptures say that the spirit in man is also the spirit in animals. Basically the spirit in humans and animals is a life force. It isn't an intelligent being inside humans or animals.
You like others, say The True God is a liar, because you agree with Satan when he told Eve she wouldn't die. The way you view soul and spirit and others like you, believe death to actually to be a doorway to another plain of existence and that the person doesn't actually die, but continues living somewhere else.
When a person dies, his life ends, the person doesn't continue living as you say.. Death is the opposite of life. So when someone dies, his feelings and memories do not keep on living somewhere else. When we die we can’t see, we can’t hear, and we can’t think anymore.
King Solomon wrote that “the dead know nothing at all.” The dead cannot love or hate, and “there is no work nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom in the Grave.” ( Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6, 10.) And at Psalm 146:4, the Bible tells us that when someone dies, “his thoughts” die.
When the scriptures compare death with sleep, it's comparing those who have died to being in a deep sleep. It, meaning the scriptures, says nothing about they(the dead) being in any dream state. That's just you talking, and what you're saying is going against scripture.
(Genesis 2:7) "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
(Mark 5:22-24) "And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet, {23} And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live. {24} And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him........"
(Mark 5:35-41) "While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further? {36} As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe. {37} And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James. {38} And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly. {39} And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. {40} And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying. {41} And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise."
To be apart from the body is to be present with God, for the believer. No sleeping. So you believe that when the scriptures say the Soul that sins dies, is a lie? Death is the opposite of life. When are alive you're conscious. You're aware of your surroundings. Death, or when you're dead you're conscious of nothing. You cease to exist as a person, except in the mind of God, if he has judged you worthy of a resurrection.
I am of the opinion that the phrase 'Know Nothing' in Scripture has to do with the fact that we don't have our Glorified Bodies yet.Too many scriptures pertaining to the fact that the dead know nothing...
I am of the opinion that the phrase 'Know Nothing' in Scripture has to do with the fact that we don't have our Glorified Bodies yet.
When that happens, we will 'Know'.
If we look at that phrase, we find that those that are alive know nothing either...
Job 8:9
"For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow"
Proverbs 9:13
"A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing"
1 Corinthians 4:4
"For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord"
1 Corinthians 8:2
"And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know"
1 Timothy 6:4
"He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings"
So both Dead and Alive know nothing which means that there is a deeper meaning to that phrase.
Do these Witnesses you are referring to have their Glorified Bodies yet?Anyone who is deemed to be a witness is very much awake, alive, and aware.
In Abraham's Bosom. To be apart from the body is to be present with God...
