When you decide to love and follow God and you read his words and listen to it as well, are you supposed to use your mind and your own judgement and interpret what God wants? Or should you let others decide that for you?

Example: You read/listen about him, you can certainly understand what he wants but others tell you that, that’s not how it should be. That their way of understanding it is correct but yours, is not.

Never allow others to do your thinking for you.

What do you think, what is your position, about the issue?

Think for yourself. A cult or denomation who uses control or manipulation, get out.

Christian people should have king James companion Bible and strong concordance. To go back to the Hebrew and Greek texts. The Massorah.

In Hosea chapter 7. There's a mistranslation. Baker should be annger.

We understand this.

No-one's understanding is perfect. And especially when you are a new Christian and don't know the Bible very well, you can easily misinterpret what you read.
If someone tells you that you've got it wrong, ask them to explain why. This is how we learn. Also, read Bible study notes written by accredited authors. Don't just rely on your own understanding.

I thought about it, and I decided that you should answer this question!

If I belief I belief. It is Jesus Christ who lives in your heart.
It's if from the devil if they say you understand it wrong.
That comes not from the heart.
They are not real Christians.
I lived among Satanists. They admit they are Satanists. They do not even hide it.
They tell me everything.
Yet what they tell me hurts.
They must do every day a wrong deed for satan.
And to interpretate books wrong, littetly all books, is one of the things they do to please Satan, in the hope I think they get benefits like rich om and fame but most of all richdom. So, I know this can hurt especially if they are your own family members. So when I started to read the Bible for my self including other books I was shocked how different it was from what they told me. I am over that shock.
I love to look at my past how in essence I was while ready at a young age others can be such sinners.

How do you think Christians grow in their faith?

You mentioned reading scripture, but what about faithful Christian teachers, preachers and friends.
Have you not read how Paul organised new believers in groups each lead by a more experienced Christian.

There is a saying :-
" re inventing the wheel "
Use sermons, Christian books, pod casts, Web sites to learn about Christianity.
Ask questions of preachers, teachers and mature friends, remember we are supposed to be able to give a reason for the hope we have.

Yes be critical of what you heard, read in Christian media.
But also be humble, none of us know it all, our understanding could be mistaken.
