It is one thing to be able to regurgitate what one has been taught in a public speech (which is what a sermon is).
It is another thing to be able to be an effective shepherd of God's people.

That the young man in Post #1 can do the former is not in question. It is his ability to be a shepherd that is in question.

I do agree with you and have done so several times on this issue. I can't help but to wonder if it applies here that St. Paul told Timothy to not allow anyone to judge him because he was young. I wonder just how young he was.

Fortunately shepherding is not about the shepherd but more about if the shepherd hears what the owner of the sheep is instructing him. He does not need any credentials when plugged in to God and his mandate for the body of Christ. I will be watching how this young man gets on...

Since nothing is impossible with God, I cannot rule out the possibility that God called the young man in the OP into ministry. However, there is more to being a pastor than just preaching. If the young man isn't pursuing a college education that will equip him to be a pastor, then the elders of his congregation should be helping him to obtain such an education.
