It is settled in my mind.
I believe that there is a balance between the verses on eternal security and those verses that speak of being able to lose one's salvation, in that the verses that speak the latter are intended to produce the fear of the Lord in the heart of the believer; and that if a believer has that for ever fear abiding in him, he will never walk away; and therefore his salvation is for ever; because it is also true (per John 10:27-30) that no one can snatch him out of the Lord's hand.
The primary verses on this are Jeremiah 32:38-40 (kjv) and Psalms 19:9.
