There's no way to know this. Even Alfred can't. It is possible; the Holy Spirit was obviously with John even before his birth (Luke 1).Alfred, the simple truth is that the Holy Spirit has not been in you since birth.
This is true. :) If one is reborn of the Spirit, then yes, he or she has the Spirit.He been with you since your rebirth.
Right. Agree.I am one who believes it is possible very young children can be born again, possible even in the womb, based on John the Baptist leaping for joy in Elizabeth's womb.
See but here, you're actually unintentionally refuting yourself, Ronald. We cannot know this, and neither really can Alfred. One's being reborn of the Spirit, given new birth in the Spirit, always ~ always, even if only momentarily ~ precedes our repentance and belief. Our repentance and belief is the inevitable result of having been born again of the Spirit.Your rebirth took place the moment you trusted in the death and physical resurrection of Jesus as the payment for all your sin.
For me, I have never known a day when I didn't know Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Sometimes I have to remind myself just how much of a blessing this is, because I think it would be cool to have had a "mountaintop" or "mind-blowing" experience, or some kind of huge emotional moment to point back at and look back upon as my born-again moment. But then I have to remember that no matter how it happened, whether boring or exciting, that it is just utterly amazing. Here's one of my favorite hymns, very appropriate here:
How sweet and awesome is this place with Christ within the doors,
While everlasting love displays the choicest of her stores!
Here every bowel of our God with soft compassion rolls;
Here peace and pardon bought with blood is food for dying souls.
While all our hearts and all our songs join to admire the feast,
Each of us cry, with thankful tongues, "Lord, why was I a guest?"
Why was I made to hear Thy voice, and enter while there's room,
When thousands make a wretched choice, and rather starve than come?
'Twas the same love that spread the feast that sweetly drew us in;
Else we had still refused to taste, and perished in our sin.
Pity the nations, O our God! Constrain the earth to come;
Send Thy victorious Word abroad, and bring the strangers home.
We long to see Thy churches full, that all the chosen race
May with one voice, and heart and soul, sing Thy redeeming grace.
