Or any dollar store food.

Last year, I bought my Nongshim noodles from the dollar store and I felt like in the spirit God was telling me, "NOT good for you."

Okay, they're not anyway, but I use them as a base and usually add tiny shrimp or shiitake mushrooms or something.

But every time I get it from any dollar store, it tastes like chemicals. Like really bad. And then I get extreme pain and inflammation the next day, almost like the flu.

But when I get it from the normal local grocer, it's fine. It's the same flavor and brand. Just totally different.

Has anyone else experienced this or is it just me?

Sister, I've never trusted DG food myself. I've been called an "organic snob" here but I have to be diligent about what I put into my body if I expect God to bless me with healing. In other words, I don't want to tempt God by jumping off a cliff and expecting He'll catch me "lest I dash my foot against a stone." (It would be totally different if I were forced over a cliff. lol)

My body has been through so much trauma, I don't do well on a diet full of carbs, and chemicals, and other things that aren't even food. I have children, grandchildren, and others God has placed in my life to be here for. I want to be as functional as possible.

I apologize for the rant. It was more than you were asking.

I will say ...my oldest son buys DG foods ...bc it's addictive. He knows it, but has a hard time getting away from it. I have a sneaky feeling that having 50 DG stores in every town is on purpose.... sabotage.

I've tried tea in plastic bottles from discount stores on at least three different occasions. Each time it has tasted like it is tainted with sewer water.
I believe this. After the ramen incident, I don't think I trust it anymore.

I remember during covid, money was difficult. God provided but we still got things like ramen. Regular Nissan ramen was replaced at the store with Panda ramen. How that stuff is approved, I don't know, but it smelled like a litter box and none of us could handle even opening it.

This is actually a good decision and I agree with you. I try to eat pretty clean or inflammation will get at me. After that it's turmeric and ginger. (Golden lattes.)

But every once in a while, I go all out. 80 - 20 rule.

I never called you an organic snob, what I said, was, " I'm not an organic food snob though. "

Do a search, the words land at my post with you and I never called you one of those (even though I did think it) clfh

By the way, on the subject of inflammation, have you ever had itching as a response?

I have tried castor oil and hydrocortisone and have had to switch to those diabetes socks to help with circulation, but my legs are driving me nuts. (I'm not diabetic, just edema maybe.)

I'll take a benedryl tonight and see if it helps but it's been bothering me.

Nevermind, I took an antihistamine and an arthritis pain relief tablet thing and it got rid of it.

Just not willing to do that all of the time.

I know, sister .... it's okay. I just have to bc I want to be a good steward of my body for the sake of people who depend on me. I know you understand. If I veer much, I struggle severely. I do my part, God is over it all, and He is faithful. ❤️

Due to high stress, I deal with eczema and shingles ...so one way or the other, itch happens. lol

It will get better, as stress settles and I take in more rest. But yes, thank you for reminding me about castor oil. It's good for skin issues and I do have some.

I also had a merry can the other day and I thought it tasted off too. What are they doing to our food these days. Let’s just eat how God intended us to eat. None of this processed junk. I know ol’ @amigo de christo agrees. Let the Lord be praised.

I also recall the tea causing one of my arms to go tingly later that day.

That is scary!

Was it sort of like an Arizona tea? I like the owner but they've been having issues with their brand.

I don't go to DG often but a lot of people here do. I try to stick to the local store, but there's a lot of ingredients that we use often that I can't get here. (Red boat fish sauce, sake, gochugaru, nori, and other staples) So I've order Nongshim, and I've never had an issue with online retailers.

I feel like the lower cost is for a reason and either they store food incorrectly or we're being sold something else with the same label.

I started my garden back up yesterday but we're only starting mostly with herbs. We have Cilantro, basil, lavender, and a few mystery seeds. (I think they're lettuce. They fell out of a bag.)

Then we have chives, sage, oregano, thyme, dill and parsley seeds coming.

I know it's time to start winter sowing, but I don't have the soil quite yet and need more milk/water jugs. I also haven't decided on what else to plant for our hardiness zone.

We probably won't get there for a while. It takes time.

Yeah it was Arizona pomegranate green tea in plastic bottles. It might not have anything to do with the brand but with the bottling or storage. I used to be fine with the stuff the gas station sold in glass bottles.

food from the dollar store is not food, mostly chemicals, buy fresh only. these noodles are not good for you.
