I can't tell you how many times the Lord has been faithful to give illumination and revelation from the word when I purposely just sat down and read the Bible because I knew that's what I should do, and not because I wanted to. 'Law' isn't all bad, you know. It helps keep hard headed mules like myself in line when needed. It's just not the ideal way to stay in line.
@Pearl The words of Scripture itself can be a good guide....

True , when you read the Psalms, or the Proverbs so to say. You see the wisdom of God. You can just feel it. But how to put that wisdom together has been tricky for me to say the least. But I have a buddy who quotes the Proverbs.. usually at a good time, and it always makes since because we know it is the wisdom of God. The words just sound right.. and using those words is your best answer in a situation, or wherever the case may be.

@soul man There is so much in Proverbs; and as for Psalms, there are the highs, the lows, there is the anguish, there is the rejoicing...

I'm learning about my thoughts.. learning it is usually my first thought on a situation that the Lord is trying to get me to see. Most of the time, not always. So what I do is weight my first thought against the word. It helps me because I know the Lord speaks to us.. but it is not going to be audible, and we have the scriptures, at least that has never happened with me. I lean on Hebrews 1, that says he speaks to us by His Son.. the word in me.

It's a great prayer there; and a lot can be learned from it; but some ppl could use it to advance the false prosperity Gospel...

There is that balance of scripture. It says 'money answers all matters.' But you learn to realize what it means. It means what it says.. but you realize it is not the answer, as well as anything else you can get. No answer in things. But you pay for things, buy things. In the world you need money, because it answers all matters.

@soul man Yes, it's not really teaching a 'prosperity Gospel' at all...

Remember the 'Prayer of Jabez' fad?

Yes there were even booklets about it.
1 Chronicles 4:10
Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.

Many years ago we had a series of teachings at our church about entering the Promised Land; that is learning to experience all that god has promised for us. Prosperity was described has having enough for our needs and also to share with others. And that god would supply according to need not want. So if God gave me a ministry where I needed a car he would supply the car. That is the True prosperity gospel. God keeps his promises.

@soul man Reminds me of Philippians 4.8....'Think on these things...'
