After reading a post a little bit ago I have to say that Christian music is better... I have yet to hear Christian music tell you to hate people, live immorally, or go home with a random stranger at the club. I'm pretty sure lady gaga has yet to save a soul nor would she encourage someone to follow Christ... What do you like about Christian music vs Mainstream..... Chime in!!!

A friend of mine bought me a guitar for Christmas...yes, he told me what he bought me  ...He also bought himself a "Les Paul" and came over the other day with it....We had so much fun playing and singing to some old christian songs from back in the day. It really set the tone for the day. Worshiping God makes me happy and focused! :D :D :D

That's awesome... You didn't get a Les Paul did you? It makes me proud to hear my kids run around the house singing Newsboys and my 6 year old son loves Jars of Clay...

I don't think so... probably an Aston or something like that...I'm happy though. I love playing the guitar but I'm just average at it and only used it when taking bible in schools. I love Jars of Clay...particularly the song "Flood" one of my favorites and I can sing it pretty good too! :p

Listened to "Reach" by Peter Furler. It's a nice song and a great vocalist.I like the song "Where I belong" by "Building 429.

That was an awesome song! :) It really brought home something tangible about how love [particularly Gods love] breaks through those walls of indifference...

Yea Buddy!!! The song as well as the video are very powerful!! I love the message that no matter how many good deeds you do, if you dont do them with love, and the love of Christ, you might as well not do them at all. :D

I grew up in a wild kind of neighbourhood in my youth and got totally switched on to the heavier kind of Rock
and so when I got born again, it was extremely difficult for to listen to latch onto the Christian music of the day.
Ron Kenolly, Carmen, etc. were great but what did it for me was Petra.
They had a fairly decent rock sounding style ... I stayed away from the other Christian rock groups after hearing
all the shenanigans they got themselves into.

What's odd, is within the last few weeks, mainstream music drives me up the wall. Now let me clarify, I am talking about a lot of the music from the last two years. I mean there is a song call "don't tell him" and yes it talks about cheating! Then there is a song about being high all the time to get over someone and I saw the video to that one..(not by choice....) and the singer is in a club making out with everyone, and I do mean Everyone!!!

What scares me is that I have to work that much harder to A. Protect my children from it, B. Hope that I taught them well enough for them to know that that is not pleasing to the Lord and they need to turn away from it.

I never listen to the music on the radio or click to the music channels on TV, so quite honestly I have no cooking clue
what's out there.
The closest I get is when I watch a movie and hear the music in the background.
My wife on the other hand constantly complains that I don't play her Christian music and only listen to teaching series
or the Bible when we travel together.
Recently I drove for well over 600 Kms down to the coast and it was either silence or Kenneth Hagin teaching on "Tongues"
or Warren W. Wiersbe teaching on "The Strategy of Satan".

I remember where one of the girls in my wife's family turned 16 and asked me to buy her a certain CD because her mom
refused to ... it was by Lady Gaga.
Now I knew who she was because the Christian's in our country freaked out and were protesting against a concert that
she was planning here.
The concert went ahead anyway and I'm not going to tell you how she made her appearance on stage but let's just say
that there were tons of embarrassed mother's who took their daughter's to see the concert that day.
So I simply told the girl in question ... no way sister, try something else.

Look, it's not going to get any better either, most of the music these days really stinks.
Same thing goes for stand up comedy.
I have on DVD a comedian telling his staff before his performance that he was going to throw in a couple of swear words to
"get the interest of the teenagers" so that he could "get the DVD sold".
How much more blatant can you get.

Yes, its sad. When I ride in the car with my wife she insists on listening to mainstream and I drives me crazy because I have to censor it if my kids are the car.... I shouldn't have to censor the radio... That junk is just destroying the youth..... I refuse to let my kids be influenced by that junk.
