The plunger tree... If it weren't for that tree.... I regress... my apartment would probably resemble a SCROOGE... as I am a minimalist... and I don't collect stuff... I do however enjoy the PAINS that others take in the name of FINE DECOR.... Beauty is something that does not fall short on me. I marvel at many of the beautifully decorated trees. I especially like the floral arrangement videos on decorating for the Holidays.

The theme trees/wreaths/sprays... are a lovely way of celebrating all the holidays year round...

AHHHHHHHH you are a man after my own heart... you express LOVE for the UNDERDOG tree.... the runt of the litter... the Charlie Brown Christmas tree.... I too am a fan of the saddest looking one... I'm the same way with humans.
@Addy Re. minimalism, it's an interesting style; I guess you would be more into 60s simplicity than into early 20th century or Victorian floppy and ornate style...

Though I guess it all depends on what ppl really mean by minimalism...

My definition of minimalism is exactly that.... I own the basics of things... and not much of one particular item... this is not done as a lifestyle statement but rather the fact that I like everything to have it's proper place... I live in a tiny bachelor apartment and I don't like STUFF... I don't have knick knacks... or collections of anything...

My problem ( if you want to call it that ) is that I do not know how to decorate... I seem to be lacking the gift of style... and I'm not sure if it's because I have always lived on very low income.. or I just don't have the knack to put pretty things together...SO... my apartment is on the rather bare side... However... I am learning.

The creative me seems to be locked up in a cage... and refuses to come out to play.... LOL

@Addy In design terms, I guess that minimalism would be more like Mary Quant than Edwardian flamboyance...

It's a society thing to focus on the outside.
"Belong" to the right "click". A "thing" I taught my kids was, Do notice the outside, be a friend to "everyone", and the least, the poorest, least attractive, least popular, most made fun of, gossiped about...give your MOST eye contact, your Biggest Smile, your MOST pleasant greeting and acknowledgment.
Funny, all the kids were popular, but were challenged regularly, by the "popular clicks", as to WHY are you talking to "THAT" person...
And the simple response...WHY DO YOU NOT?

I also like my living space tidy, with necessities...and have other spaces for, things I like, have... mostly reminders of old days, old family, antique type things...back when people thought and did for themselves, and knew what freedom was.

I love... love... LOVE this... It is how I raised my daughter also... and today... I am able to sit back and watch how she respects and gives time to the people that most don't desire to even look at.

I know what you mean!!
One thing we talked about alot was...
Sure you can give Stuff you no longer need or want ...pfff tax write off...or you can GIVE what you really DO want to keep, but another could use, or would like...meaning...it's easy to give away WHAT you do not WANT....but Loving to Give what you also do WANT.
Like...this was my dads, it means alot to me, and why...but I want you to have it.

The worst, worst, I notice in department stores is a mom, or g-ma, pushing a toddler / little child around, calling them a brat, making cussing threats....those are especially the kids I speak to...what a cutie pie, what a sweet little girl, such a good girl, so smart to sit in the buggy, so helpful to hold an item....etc. Even offer the adult, can I live the child a dollar to hold while you are shopping, so they can pick a treat at the check out. See them a couple of isles later...the child sitting still, holding the dollar, smiling, no whinning, fussing.... It's perspective. Did the same with my kids, and then taught, to pick something you can share. You know...like M&M's...;)
You keep the M&M's...give me the W&W's...
Lol.

The crows are making very peculiar noises this morning... they are squelching ( for lack of a better word).
It's like they are actually talking... which I know they are... but I have never heard this kind of noise coming from them before.

I also noticed the crows very active last evening... about 10 gathered on the peak of our little log cabin, then fluttered off to the trees, squawking back and forth.
I think they nest deeper in the woods, and quite around their nesting spaces... and noisier in more open spaces...maybe teaching the younger, hunting time? Not sure.

I do like seeing the frogs up around our outdoor spaces near the house...
I call them my "little guards"... Since frogs are a diet for snakes...when frogs are present, I don't find snakes close to the house....YEAH!

I wish I would see more frogs... You would think living by the lake there would be plenty... but I am either missing them or they just don't congregate in my neighbourhood... lol... I have in the last 6 years seen a few turtles... but mostly squirrels and chipmonks.... The crows are plentiful.

We do have snakes in the fields and see some near the pond, where the frogs are plentiful.
Rabbits, coons, possum, coyotes, hogs, occasionally a bob cat...mostly at night...if in the evening...the rabbits are simply an exercise run for the dog, who can not catch them...
Not too many squirrels, another fun thing for the dog to chase up a tree. They mostly sneak into the bird "sancturary", looking for an easy meal...then scurry off through the tree tops.

@Taken ... My landlords own an Ibizan Hound... they had two but one died this summer...
Anyways... when they take the dog for it's morning and evening walk... they have two leashes on his collar.... This has started since one of the dogs died. It's the funniest thing to see... two people walking ONE DOG... the reason being.... in the morning.... the squirrels... and in the evening... the skunks... LOL
