To OVERCOME what man could not . Every temptation known to man .

How wrong you are! The Son of Man was the means by which every temptation was overcome. Christ being fully man was the whole point!

In Luke 4:5 and 9 it reads, depending on the translation, that the Devil took Jesus up or led Jesus. If the devil led Jesus to a high place, it means Jesus followed the devil.

That would imply that Jesus was powerless, which isn't possible. If it were, Jesus wouldn't have been able to resist the devil's temptations. In Luke 4:1, it says the (holy) Spirit led Jesus to the wilderness. I'm thinking this showdown was preplanned. Jesus allowed Satan to give his sales pitch so then he could refuse it as a declaration.

If the devil had physical power over Jesus, why didn't he throw Jesus to his death? And why don't demons exercise physical power over people on a regular basis?

There's nowhere in the Bible that I can think of where the devil or demons have physical power to do anything. They can influence, manipulate, and possess, but they don't have the ability to directly interact with the physical world. Even in the case of possession, they have to use a physical body as a medium to have any physical effect.
