Okay, in the midst of all the other debates on here I often see a trend from a few speaking about perfect love. In our lives as Christians and living for Christ do we show the proof of His love? If someone looks at us, our actions, our emotions, our deeds, do they see the love of Christ?

Does your heart go out to those who do not know love for any number of reasons. So what is love? or should I say, Do our lives reflect the following:

1 Corinthians 13 New International Version (NIV)
13 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Of all the things listed, if we do not do them with love, we are not who we say we are. Love. Perfect, sacrificial Love.... We are called to this!

That's true and this is something I have been working on for quite a while. I was at one time very legalistic and judgemental.
But now I know it's not about how much I think I know or how good I think I am or what gifts I think I have. It's about the love I have for my neighbors and especially to those in the faith. Because only with that can I love God and even begin to draw close to him and love him. Because love is the greatest of all, without that we have nothing and are just noise that nobody wants to hear or is not heard at all.

Good Post, truthquest!!! You hit it on the head in my opinion. Do we speak love? Do we speak life?

Loving unconditionally takes a life time of practice. For me, it seem like every time I learn to love more completely, I take a few steps backwards into selfishness.......just a toddler, I guess :)

I think the hardest time for anyone to reflect the love of Christ is in times of trial and tribulation. It's human nature to be angry and resent people. Whats important is to remember the love the sinner and hate the sin. These hard times are the most important times to show love.

1 John 3:18

My little children, don't just talk about love as an idea or a theory. Make it your true way of life, and live in the pattern of gracious love.
