Science treats young earth creationism as a very dumb idea because it lacks scientific evidence of any kind and essentially all the scientific evidence we do have undermines it. Most of the Christian scientists also reject YECism. Out of roughly 8,000,000 less than 10k support yecism and most of them are not in earth sciences.
Let God be true and every man a liar. So who cares what men think. Most Christians do not reject YEC btw and many of those that do are either not Christians or just honest but ignorant. When I was a new Christian I accepted the New Testament wholeheartedly but largely rejected the OT as unproven pagan history. Until one decides to get off your butt and do your own homework
Take the example of Noah's flood.......history and geology and archaeology/paleontology actually prove it to have happened. Every culture in existence has some sort of flood story. We all know of the epic of Gilgamesh for starters.
Now the science
The Grand Canyon for example. It wasnt carved out by the Colorado River as is usually taught but by massive flooding. When you look at the example of Mount St Helens and the millions of tons of soil and rock that got swept away by flooding caused by the eruption you can clearly see how water can do massive damage in only a few hours or days and not just over millions of years.
There are fossil seashells on Mount Everest. There are whalebones in the Sahara. Near where I live there is a field of massive 100+ ton boulders that according to secular science were brought here by glaciers but they were most likely brought by...well, need I say it?
Every country in the world also shows evidence of remnants of massive ancient seas. In Alberta Canada there is a place called Drumheller where there is a campground, one that I visited when I was 10, Dinosaur Park (its called that because its also an area rich in dino fossils). The whole area used to be an ancient sea....proving that the dinos werent killed by a meteor.
There is also plenty of evidence of groves of trees that were killed and buried while still standing - totally impossible unless it happened over a few days or weeks.
I could go on but I have made my point
No Christian hates science. We all believe it has its place but it doesnt have all the answers
