Gen 2:
[17] But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

The context is....
Adam was Created (formed) and Made (Given Life From God) outside the Garden.
Adam was put IN the garden.
God was WITH Adam IN the Garden.
God was feeding Adam GOOD.
God taught for Adam to remain eating the GOOD.
God warned Eating other than GOOD... is Eating EVIL.
God warned Eating EVIL has a consequence.
God warned the consequence for Eating Evil IS Death.
Adam ignored Gods warning...
* Adam Listened to the Created woman’s WORD...
* The Created woman’s WORD said the fruit was GOOD.

Adam Already KNEW what God Established was GOOD.
* Yet Adam directed his attention, his ear, extended his hand, took, tasted, ate....that Which was NOT GOOD....

* Adam’s Living Body’s Sin was Forgiven....And Covered by God Himself.
* But what about Adam’s Living Soul’s Sin?

* Forgiven ? No.
* Because .... even on Adam’s way of being escorted Out of the Garden, Adam failed to reach out and Take from the Tree of Life, and Eat, what God had Set in Adam’s midst...Given, Encouraged by God FOR Adam To Eat....Adam Chose to not reach out and Take Gods Offering.

Consequence? God effected His Separation From Adam and Adam From God.

Nothing different today.

Blood life shall die...God Requires all body’s must die.....

(Gen 9: 5-6)

Body’s that die are covered.
What about the Living souls God blew into a mans Body?

Gen 2:

[7] And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Does Gods Life EVER DIE?
Was it God that sinned, is it even possible for God to sin Taken.

So you didn't answer sir, do you agree with how I defined death or not? If not which of those scriptures do you feel I misrepresented?

What did Jesus mean here sir?: (Matthew 21:43) . . .I say to you, the Kingdom of God will be taken from you and be given to a nation producing its fruits.

Wouldn't you say that new nation of Jews are these?: (Galatians 6:16) . . .As for all those who walk orderly by this rule of conduct, peace and mercy be upon them, yes, upon the Israel of God.

If you think not, then what do those verses mean RW?

The spiritual Kingdom of God in heaven has always been represented by the Church on earth. The Church that began of old through the nation of Israel, which began to be "the Church in the wilderness." (Acts 7:38) The Kingdom of God, represented by the Church on earth was indeed taken from the nation of Israel and given to whosoever is of faith in Christ. We read fulfillment of Christ's prophetic words as He declares, "Behold, your house is left unto you desolate." (Mt 23:38) From that moment the nation of old ceased to be the representation of the spiritual Kingdom of God through the Church on earth. Through the rejection of their promised Messiah, the Church UNIVERSALLY would be the representation of the spiritual Kingdom of God, with only the remnant from old who would be saved by grace through faith.

In Galatians 6, Paul clearly proves the nation that brings forth fruits would not be limited to Jewish Israel, but would be "a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light". Who is past times were not the people of God, but have now obtained mercy through Christ. Which Paul confirms in his epistle to the Galatians when he says there is no difference between the circumcision (Jewish Israel) and uncircumcision (Gentiles) in Christ, for they shall be called the Israel of God.

1 Peter 2:10 (KJV) Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

Galatians 6:15-16 (KJV) For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

This is my understanding of these verses Bob.

The spirit of course is the breath of life. It is now in God's hands for any future life of those who have died. We can go on forever Rw, and you can either believe God who in no indirect terms stated very clearly that Adam would die if they chose to violate His rule. That happened! I believe it! I do not side with satan who stated just as clearly to Eve that she would not die. That to me is the lie sir, because the fact is, they did die.

Out of curiosity, why is it you choose to believe that something goes on? If we do not die, what is the point of Jesus' being sent to die? I just cant understand the logic.

Because I believe Christ Bob! I believe Him when He says, "Whosoever lives and believes in Me shall NEVER die." If death of our body means death of our spirit as well, meaning we are no longer a living spiritual soul after physical death, then we must reject the words of Christ because He promises to give something He will not!

Why do you doubt the words of Christ Bob? Is it because you do not have understanding of "eternal life"? Christ would not say the life we have in Him is eternal/everlasting if physical death results also in the death of our spirit.

ETERNAL/EVERLASTING
Strong's Greek Dictionary
166. αἰώνιος aionios (aiṓnios)

Search for G166 in KJVSL; in KJV.
αἰώνιος aiṓnios, ahee-o'-nee-os - from G165; perpetual (also used of past time, or past and future as well):—eternal, for ever, everlasting, world (began).

How do you make friends with a person you know nothing about?
Proverbs tells us to have friends a man must show himself friendly.
Approachable?

I personally never meet a stranger. I love folks and I love to engage so I'm in conversation with all @ any point or place !

Most folks are hurting and in a chaotic life. They want a caring kind word or smile.

Jesus was not a respecter of persons based on their sin status but the pliability of the heart to receive. Are we above our Master, who considered himself a servant ?

Jesus assured that it is from their graves that he will bring out the dead:

John 5:28 Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.

That means that no dead person is still alive in some form, in some other place apart from where they were buried.

Body’s came out of the Earth and Dead Body’s return to the Earth.

Souls of men come from Gods breath....
(Saved soul departed out of a dead body?
* Escorted to God in Heaven.
(Unsaved souls departed out of a dead body?
* Sent to Hell.

Spirits of men come from Gods Seed.
( All Who Have Received Gods Seed?
* Their spirit departs out of their dead body, and that spirit rises up to Heaven with God.
I think you were addressing this to me instead of yourself Taken, I agree sir, without anything. Their hope lies in the resurrection.

Applicable to anyone whom the Lord is neither with or in.

I was talking about what you were talking before: being friends of Jehovah and Jesus. If you know nothing about them, you can not invent them to your liking to be friend of your inventions.

We should know who is Jehovah and who is Jesus, and learn about their personality and teachings. We can learn about those things in the Scriptures and watching the things God created for us, not just trusting what others think about them.

I know whom GOD is, and in whom I have believed !

Not per the JW slant but by God's Spirit !
His word is truth, all his word.

God is a spirit and must be worshipped in spirit and in truth!

Folks need to get  HONEST with themselves and God !

I posted here when I first came, I think....
I was SEEKING the comfort of death then, having started withdrawal from psychological meds.
Yesterday, and I rarely share what God speaks to me personally, my God spoke to me after asking ,why I was so long here when others were passing and why I couldn't.

He said unto me," You are the only hedge around your family, and through you I will work".

My greatest heart's desire is my loved ones KNOW JESUS PERSONALLY, not with just head knowledge.
This is the post referenced, I suppose ?
Read it again and with your reading get comprehension!

Mal. 3:16 At that time those who fear Jehovah spoke with one another, each one with his companion, and Jehovah kept paying attention and listening. And a book of remembrance was written before him for those fearing Jehovah and for those meditating on his name.
17 “And they will be mine,” says Jehovah of armies, “in the day when I produce a special property. I will show them compassion, just as a man shows compassion to his son who serves him. 18 And you will again see the distinction between a righteous person and a wicked person, between one serving God and one not serving him.”

Who laughs last laughs better.

As the title of this topic says, knowing what death is, is a comfort.

Think honestly: according to your belief in what happens to the dead: where would your relatives who have died really be if they never became Christians?

What a relief that there will be a resurrection of the just and the unjust! (John 5:28,29).
What a relief that no family member of ours is burning in some hellfire!

Never.

So you didn't answer sir, do you agree with how I defined death or not? If not which of those scriptures do you feel I misrepresented?

I didn’t really see what I would say is the complete meaning of death/dead.

My perspective...

Bodily Death/Dead:
Life in body (blood) ceases flowing, body physically Dead.
Body begins decaying.
Body knows, feels nothing.
* A Living Body ...Against God (disbelief, Sin against God), although Alive is accounted Dead to God.

Every soul is a living soul...in or out of the body.
* Living soul departs the body, continues living, continues seeing, speaking, hearing, smelling, tasting, feeling touch.....May be in Heaven with God (ie Saved), May be in Hell without God (ie. Unsaved)
Each waiting for Judgement.
* IF, the mans “spirit” is born again, the spirit departs the dead body, and goes to Heaven, with God.
* If, the mans “spirit” is not born again, his natural spirit dies with his body.
* Every Living soul...in or out of a body...not saved....is accounted Dead to God.
* Every Living soul....in or out of a body, not saved, is accounted as Dead to God.

The whole of man is body, soul, spirit.
The ONLY part of the whole of man that is appointed to die and Must die is the natural form from out of the Earth, mortal physical BODY.

The soul, the spirit, come from God.
Gods breath is His life in the soul. Gods life does not die or remain in a Physically Dead rotting Body.

The quickened spirit of a man is Gods Spirit in the man, Gods Life does not die, nor remain in a physically dead rotting body.

Physical death applies to the body.
Spiritual Death applies to any body, soul, spirit that is without God,

All men / women make their choices to accept or reject God. It is the individuals responsibility to respond.
I have to only bear the LIGHT !

Grief is only here, and I grieve for my family that has already passed away from life. I wonder will I see them in the throne room of God.

There will be no tears or grief and the memory of them will be removed for God will be the only focus and his glory.

As well willing to approach others.
The grubby guy sitting on the sidewalk, the overweight person struggling to fit down the grocery aisle, the crying or misbehaving kids the parent is ignoring, the slow shuffling guy holding up the line, the filthy and ragged clothed person, and as well the gal all decked out with her nose turned up at everyone....

Little kids look, at what many adults will glance ahead, make that 3 second judgement and turn away.

Elie, the resurrection of both the just and the unjust is the just are resurrected to life, and the unjust resurrected to damnation. There is no in-between stage. In this age before we die we must receive Christ as our eternal Savior, we must be born again, or at the resurrection we will be called before the great white throne with all "the dead" to be judged by what is written in the books and the book of life. Since the names of "the dead" shall not be found in the book of life, all of them will be cast into the lake of fire.

It is a great comfort to know that physical death does not destroy me. This knowledge creates urgency for all who have been born again to make sure our loved ones do not physically die before hearing the Gospel. Once they hear and if by grace through faith, they believe then they too have everlasting life through Him. If my loved ones and friends remain in unbelief after hearing the Gospel, the burden of judgment will be upon their own heads. I have no ability to give eternal life to anyone. And therefore, I am commanded to proclaim the Gospel of Christ, because faith comes by hearing the Word, and Christ is the Word. God will through His Spirit change the hearts of whosoever believes according to grace.

Resurrection is to give another chance to the ones who died before the final judgement of this system of things ... God is good. joy:

They may learn to obey God before the last test to the end of the Millenium. After that test is the last trial.
