A) Children should be killed for the sins of their parents
B) Children should not be killed/punished for the sins of their parent

The correct answer is B)
Deut 24:16 Parents are not to be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their parents; each will die for their own sin.

Do you Agree ? Of course you do - because the entire Bible is God's word - and Deut 24:16 is part of the Bible.

You appear to excuse filtering out what you like from what you do not like. There are other perspectives than rewriting scripture.

What you call contradiction I would call emphasis. Take cursing the fig tree. Did it wither straight away or over 24 hours? Depends on who you listen to and it can be both. One saw a change straight away the other the next day. This is very common among witnesses, but the message is it withered.

Now where is the invention and where the reality. Scripture is very much perspectives, and varies from writer to writer. What is miss leading is the claim things cannot be as described or is false. If you want to claim this back it up else it is just your view, no more.

Biblical critics fail to see meaning and expression are two different things. God's word is alive in His people today and finds its unique expression in each. The implications are infinite so declaring only one view conflicts with another is just delusion from a closed heart. God bless you

Agreed. Who's to say which parts are or are not the inspired God breathed Word, in the bible? I see zero contradictions in the bible because there aren't any.

If God did not want certain books in the complete Word He left to us, then that is why they are not in there. The books He compiled for us is what He left us with. How else to even know Him?

The title of this thread is interesting. It suggests heaven is about possessions and doing well.
One observation I have made about people who drive flash cars is they drive them not because they know much about cars but because of the looks they think they will get from others.

Now if you live in a world where everyone else has exactly what you have got are you happy or sad?
Does superiority drive your motivation and direction in life?

I get that feeling from the statement about prosperity and heaven. God shares everything with those He loves.
Ownership is not an issue because missuse is not a risk. I hate to use the term fool, but a fool would talk about prosperity and God. God owns everything and can do what He wills and desires. So for Him prosperity is not a phrase that registers at all. Spiritual poverty, emptiness and darkness is what concerns Him and how empty and dark are souls who see possessions and call them prosperity and wealth.

Imagine a guy with 1 billion dollars. There is not time or physical ability to experience such a massive amount of wealth and what it could be used to achieve. It is like saying can I listen to all the videos on YouTube? What the truth becomes is what does one personally really value. And once you begin to see what we value and how we then respond, wealth is just a means to amplify this or detract from it.

So to express value to another, to reach our and touch someone in a deep way and help change their path, now that has true significant value. To bring joy and fulfilment, to bring security and a base from which to operate, that is a support that has eternal consequences. Jesus did not need a home, or a place to reside, because He spent His time doing what needed to be done.

What is also fascinating is what is called prosperity in each civilisation changes, depending on the culture and value systems at work. And what is our common social feeling, "I will show them", "They will regret writing me off", "I will be something that will surprise them".

But the problem is, we are who we are and that is enough. It is valuing people in their situation and opportunities that is life and its power, not this illusion of who can get the greatest acclaim or otherwise. Only a rich wealthy society with overly self indulgent people who want to be reassured their gluttony and greed is not sin would be pampered with a prosperity gospel. What they do not realise they have already found their heaven, and they really do not want God to take it away, but for them, heaven will be a place of emptiness and poverty, where they will never find a place.

This was the same type of "church" I first attended, outside of Catholic church's, when becoming 'saved'. I remember the one pastor saying something to the effect of 'God don't wanna see you driving around in a jalopy, He want's to see you in a Cadillac!
His message was basically, if you have 'nice' THINGS...it will show others that God blesses you! How about acting like a Christian instead. Those who desire worldly material things in this life...IMHO-have their reward.

Now I have issues with various testimonies, like the sun standing still in the sky or the sun going backwards. Some may not understand how this causes massive inertia and rotational issues for the earth and the sun, except if you come to realise nothing is actually as it seems.

Now some say what a ridiculous idea until you realise in the last 100 years we have discovered black holes, dark matter, the big bang, the expanding university, a possibility that we are in a spiral arm of a galaxy except we will never be able to explore it meaningfully because of space time issues.
95% of everything is currently dark matter and dark energy or our projections from observations on earth are wrong.

And this all makes me humble and realise I think I see things in proportion, until I see what I do not know, and one fact can change everything. So truth is rather stranger than I can understand, and what I think I know is probably just a small part of a greater whole.

And I can project excuse filtering, unless one begins to open up to other possibilities. We can only be definitive about our own positions, dismissing others is just a faith position. So I am happy to talk examples of what you feel are contradictions and I can share my perspective. God bless you

"outright pious Fraud" - what is this? What I find interesting is how people find sin and moral guilt is so difficult to face, nihilists deny it has any value except it is not a belief system, it is inbuilt into our dna and things we care about.

I read a guy who felt he had been brain washed into believing moral behaviour was good, and immoral behaviour was not, yet he no longer accepted this so he could not understand why his emotions and heart still refused to not respond. What he was unaware of we are totally integrated social beings and morality is about our biological sense of fairness. You can do experiments with children and they know what is fair and what is not and care deeply about it. Religion and morality reflect what we already are, which is why it occurs in all cultures and places people exist, rather than religion and morality is externally imposed. But this kind of world is hard to except if one wants a world with no meaning because then guilt should evaporate and disappear. The thing with behavioural biology is it is governed by what works not what is individually desired.

So I would say as Proverbs described evil people as fools with no understanding or strength are 100% correct and unfortunately for people who hate this reality, their hatred defines its reality against which they can do nothing. If it was not unmoveable the hatred would not be so strong.
The biggest lie is religion has created morality, so reject God and you will then be immoral. The opposite is true, accept our own personal morality and guilt and God will help us become fulfilled and find real meaning in His love and reality. God bless you

The atheist dilemma.

God does not exist because I say he does not exist, which is a faith position.
Linked with such a faith position is a positive affirmation often of naturalism and determinism. But again both of these positive affirmations are not faith, they are just realities. Ironically this is the same kind of faith a believer in Jesus has, talking about Jesus being a reality.

And naturalism is a belief that we come about through random interactions of material things which has brought about complexity.
There is a simple real proof of this absurdity. Take one page of shakespear, and believe this page could appear out of the sky and fall at our feet.
It would take longer than the age of universe 14 billion years just to randomly create such a page.

Life as we know it in its simplest form relies in 500,000 base pairs working perfectly. Now this has to drop from the sky, where all we see is destruction of information and slight adjustments that allow adaption of the system to cope with changing environments. To create such a thing randomly is literally impossible. Yet to these folk this is what has happened, as a fact, which they will attest to, even though there is literally no working example of how to produce just one base pair.

My focus in my short life has been on life and its beauty, and how Jesus spoke the impossible, walked the impossible, did the impossible, and to His closest followers, sought their witness of this impossibility to spread the knowledge of who He is, and how His will is to be followed. Now that is very odd, unless it is actually true, and the reality of light in darkness, a house built on the rock, final ultimate resolution to the soul of what matters and what we eternally care about. Not sure what this has to do with the various issues with claiming the entire Bible is "God Breathed' - the first scientific question being.

Which one ? Which Bible ?

The answer to the question matters not - as regardless of what is chosen - I can put up another Bible that says something different - at which point we are faced with the dilema "which one is God's word" ?

Now that is comparing the exact same passage - never mind comparison of different passages.

For example - go to page 7 of this article and you will find Deut 32:43 - from 3 different Bibles. 2 are further back than 100 BC and the Masoretic Text which was done 700-900 AD http://www.thedivinecouncil.com/DT32BibSac.pdf

In the 2 older versions the Israelite beliefs in the Divine Pantheon are maintained - not in the MT. This is one of the more common edits .. cool that we have some older texts which maintain the original reading.

Then if you look at what the MT does maintain -

"Oh Nations, rejoice his people - (on the older versions "his people" turns out to be other Gods alongside angels)
for He'll avenge the blood of his servants
Wreck vengeance on his foes
and Cleanse his peoples land"

Then compare this to a modern translation --

Rejoice, you nations, with his people,
for he will avenge the blood of his servants;
he will take vengeance on his enemies
and make atonement for his land and people.

There will be no "Cleansing of the Land" in the modern world .. nor is it the peoples land .. it is not God's land..

What has been cleansed is any semblance of the original meaning out of this passage.
