Ignatius was one of the Early Church Fathers (ECF). He said many true things, but he also believe some false things. It appears that very soon after the apostles, one man was being appointed bishop over the elders, deacons, and Christians. Here is what Ignatius wrote:

"See that ye all follow the bishop, even as Jesus Christ does the Father, and the presbytery as ye would the apostles; and reverence the deacons, as being the institution of God. Let no man do anything connected with the Church without the bishop."

However, in the New Testament the presbyters (or elders) were also called bishops, and they were a body called the presbytery. A presbyter was a pastor (poimen)/elder (presbuteros) /bishop (episkopos), but there was always a plurality of elders, with Christ as the Bishop over them and the churches.

Then you know your denomination ultimately branched off the Catholic Church which traces back to Jesus. Therefore, why would the Catholic Church not be closer to teaching the truth?

I don't find the 2020 Catholic Church to be synonymous with the 33AD church. Though of course Catholics are Christians.

I'm first and foremost interested in going straight to God for His Truth. I acknowledge how Catholics value things handed down through the years, and that's great for Catholics. But I don't share that interest so your question doesn't matter really at all to me.
