This is at times question, a groundhog day image of the illusion of time.

And if the darkness and the Lord's mercies are new every evening and morning--what is every day but a repeat of what was, making it what it now is? What does that all mean regarding creation, and even the age of this world, if everything is new each day?

What mind but the mind of God could hold such a scheme, a scheme of days and people in His image--"but each one in his own order," as numerous as the sand on the seashore?

Is this the verse you are referring to?

1 Cr 15:23 But every man in his own order:
Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

Because it says, "THEY" that are Christ's after there

The original premise of the thread is based on Lamentations 3:23. But yes, I did include a quote of 1 Corinthians 15:23 to express an elaboration from the scriptures regarding the order of the repetition of darkness and mercy occurring daily.

Time is not an illusion! It is a real part of God's creation.

Every day is a new blessing from God. He gave us our first heart beat and will give us our last.
That certainly is the perspective from inside the snow globe.

But those are the lower thoughts of men, as opposed to the higher thoughts of God and the bigger picture. One certainly can choose to hold on to the lesser...but that is to reject Jesus's offer of being led unto all truth and the finish of the mystery of God that was to come just before the end, and has come.

Indeed, everything of the world is subject to time passing and decay, and comes to an end. To the contrary, the message of the gospel of Christ is not one of endless days of the flesh and of this world, but one of being born [again] of the eternal spirit of God--out of this world--out of the bondage of times.

Jeremiah chapter 18 :12. And they said, There is no hope but we will walk after our own devices and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart.
Could it be peoples stubborn refusal to change they're ways. There defiance against God potential to reshape their lives like a potter with clay. They choose to remain unyielding in there sin.

The wicked follow the imagination of their wicked heart. They refuse to repent and amend there ways. There deliberate choice has consequences, and brings God's judgement on them.

They won't give up there false religion, idols, and wicked ways. God is fair and merciful God. The wicked bring judgement down on there own heads. It is futility of arguing with God. Who is the potter, and who is the clay ? .

Yes, in a very basic sort of way, with each day being a repeat of first the evening (darkness) and then the morning, it is equal opportunity for every person of every generation every day, to go from darkness (evil) to light (good/God). Just brilliant!
