Whew!

I had to take a series of Driver's Education classes in my twenties for reasons we shall not discuss. It seemed strange being in class with a bunch of high school kids. Your son is about that age now, right? BTW, your insurance company may give you a discount if you take a formal Driver's Ed course.

Our new daughter-in-law is also learning to drive for the first time relatively late in life. She comes from Europe where most cities have decent public transportation and you don't really need to drive. Here in America, or at least in North Carolina, you do.
Worry not about the past . If i were to talk of mine most folks would cringe . Even though i had the appearance
and beleive you me it was APPEARANCE only , of knowing Christ and being good . Man did i have the wool
pulled down over the eyes of many . And yet todays churches would have believed me A solider of GOD all mighty .
which i was NOT , i was a devil .

Well I'm not dying but sort of.

I have to take care of a few things I haven't dealt with in life, and also, I feel like I should drive again.

I didn't have supportive people to help me drive when I was younger. They, in part, caused my anxiety. I dissociate.

The only thing that helps me tremendously with anxiety and dissociating also causes me to hear voices.

So, its like, do I just do really well and hear voices or do I not hear voices and fail?

I wish I could take the medicine that works for me and be fine. And I don't think that's spiritual, really, because it's so nonsensical.
Sister, along the lines of what @Hepzibah said, sometimes God allows circumstances that bring things to a head that need to be dealt with.

It may not be fun (usually, it isn't one bit fun), but He is working for your complete wholeness. Trust Him. Reach to Him. This is not for your destruction, but for your healing.

Psalms 147:3
[3]He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

Isaiah 61:1-4
[1]The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
[2]To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
[3]To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
[4]And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.

Jeremiah 29:11-14
[11]For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
[12]Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
[13]And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
[14]And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.

Sometimes, it is God who has to break us up. Think of it like a bone that was broken and never set straight. It healed up on its own and we can walk and function, but with a limp because it didn't grow back straight. So arthritis sets in, and ...we go to a doctor who has to do surgery. He has to rebreak the bone/s and reset them, making the crooked places straight again. Then, he binds it up with a wrap or cast so the bone can heal. It's a painful process, but necessary. In the end, you have a much stronger bone.

Psalms 51:5-8
[5]Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
[6]Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
[7]Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
[8]Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

I seriously need supernatural peace so that I won't spend all of my time in bed wasting my energy ruminating and worrying and getting fixated on things, and giving up on the rest of my life.

Amen
Isa 26:3
You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.

Hello @DuckieLady lady

Rumination is awful. I suffered 2 month and I am glad I got a job, it helped tremendously. I ended up zombiefied...and if we are to take your mind off our problems it does help to Philippians 4;8

AMP
Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].

I will pray you pass your test

There is a caveat to this. When there are unresolved issues in your past, they are stored up in the mind, festering. So when God puts His finger on "that" ...that thing the mind is ruminating on whether we try to push it away or not ....He requires us to look at it. This is not ruminating, but facing. There is a difference. God will show you. He will guide you.

When He takes you to something and requires you to face it, He will bring truth that makes you FREE. (Free from the pain that it held and any lie-based thinking that was rooted in that pain.)

Trust His lead, sister. ❤️

Duckie, You did not specify what you were ruminating about, but since you want to pass your test I thought it was apt to mention Philippians 4;8 because you were already aware you needed something just to take your mind off things, with your driving test.

As for rumination itself, being stuck and fixated on something, is hard to break out of because of what @TLHKAJ mentions below...

This is sooo true. I experienced this❤️

My rumination ended when I was shown by God that my friend who annoyed me severely and caused me to become fixated on something he said to me was just not very well. Rather than taking the blame or blaming him, I let it go. It was faith in God that did it Now the rumination has stopped.

Praying yours has too.

Thank you. I really like this.

I am going to have to wait and talk to Mr. Duck tomorrow about it.

I feel like God led me tonight after praying with a big "not right now" because of a health issue.

My way of doing things out of pride and embarrassment may not be good for me or other people on the road.

Massive ego punch

Don't put it off too long. My mom never drove for as long as I can remember, for the same reason you don't - anxiety. Between an excellent public transportation system in our city and my dad doing the driving whenever a car was necessary, she never had to. Fast forward a half-century to when Dad developed heart issues and couldn't safely operate a motor vehicle, and suddenly Mom HAD to overcome her anxiety and re-learn how to drive when in her 70s. Necessity can force you to do things you didn't think you could do.

The confidence BOOST will give me confidence BOOTS. I need two pairs, one for peace and one to feel strong. I'll can wear both at the same time.

I like that! Overcoming your fears is what gives you confidence. Strength and courage!
