I have Toothache and abscess

I had to go to the emergency room yesterday with an abscess and toothache, the dentist pulled out the tooth and I am off work with a fever and feeling weak.
The abscess is draining and so I should be ok to go back to work tomorrow.
I have never enjoyed soup so much in all my life.
anyone else suffered with this?

I hope your dentist put you on antibiotics. I've had two abscesses. The last one I can remember well. My dentist drained the abscess but I recall he put me on two antibiotics for some days.

An infection near the brain definitely needs a course of antibiotics.

No he did not give me anti biotic, even though I thought he would.
My face has gone down though, it just feels tender where the tooth was extracted..
If it does not shift I will contact my GP.

I think you should tell your doctor....if you have residual infection that is not good.

I had a molar extracted last year. It apparently was disintegrating. And not covered by my dental insurance, which is painful in a different way.

I've got an appointment later this morning to get a porcelain crown installed in that slot. I already had the mounting screw installed last month. It's kinda cool how he uses a 3D printer to make a perfect match with the adjacent chompers.

Because of my history of heart problems, my dentist has always required me to premedicate with antibiotics before any procedure, even routine cleanings . I'm astonished the ER folks didn't give you antibiotics for a known abscess with a fever.

I was shocked too about not giving me the anti biotic...but I guess he knew what he was doing, and he just yanked it out.

I have been to work today, and feeling a lot better, no fever, so he must have had an incline, I was not as bad as some.

I'm glad you're feeling better.

They just made some impressions of my teeth today, which they'll use to make the crown a few weeks from now.
