I have never had God do something to me that he did not reveal why.

Have you asked him to help you see the reason behind his choices?

Well, mystery is thrown around a lot in these end times. It's probably why I prefer it not. The world craves it. God doesn't speak to the 21st century like He did Moses etc... :(

I agree. I don't like mystery either. I know there is a reason God would have me go through what I go through. I know the answer will be revealed later but yes, getting to that point can be unnerving.... I will admit, there are times I beg for Him to reveal why I am enduring the trial.

Reality is a mystery; we cannot know the future. My suggestion: get used to living with ambiguity - surrendering to the unknown is forfeiting our illusion of control and retiring from worry and anxiety. It means stopping the practice of using the Bible as a fortunetelling device; reducing it to a magic 8 ball

I personally don't look for the answers to my trials or others in the Bible. Granted, there is great inspiration in there to take comfort in whilst going through the trial. But as for answers, I go directly to the Big Guy! :) He has this habit, however, of making me learn along the way before the big reveal. :)

Well let's start with elephant in the room.

When God spoke to Moses there were hundreds of thousands of people on the planet. Not a single one of them had to complete such history as Moses needed to complete. Therefore God didn't speak to anyone directly other than Moses.

Now we have billions on the planet. So unless you're destined to do something earth moving I'd not be too hurt that a bush doesn't burst into flame and God starts a conversation with you.

Elephant cleared.

Now I said he "reveals" to me, not speaks directly. Perhaps you simply need to stop focusing on your own issues and start opening yourself up to the dialog he is sending your way.

Trees, Forest, Forest trees.

I used to be that way too. So involved in my own issues that I drowned out the dialog. In other words stop thinking it's a mystery or I just don't get it or can't I just have a simple answer or any other distraction in your head. It's like fighting a rip current. You'll tire and drown.

Let the current do what it must and you swim parallel to the shore until you can swim in.

Essentially stop trying so hard to discern God and let him reveal to you what you need, not what you want.

Sometimes we have to just be.

Hi guys. Sometimes God deliberately holds back from telling us everything that is going on. We are entering into the greatest crisis this earth has ever seen. There are going to be events confronting us...spiritual...miraculous...physical...devilish and satanic....all devised to confuse, deceive, and to lead us into false worship. Beast worship. Satan worship. God wants you to learn to trust Him. When what we see before our eyes totally contradicts everything we have thus far known, we need to trust that God is still in control. Still sovereign. Still God. To do this we need faith. We need to stretch our trust and faith that God knows what He is doing, that He still cares, that He is still in control, even though things may look to be on the verge of chaos. Like the apostles in the boat, in panic wanting Jesus to wake up and save them. He said, "where is your faith". There faith was not expressed in their tapping Him on the shoulder and asking "why are you asleep?" Their faith would have been better expressed by relaxing, and knowing Jesus, even in sleep, knew what was going on, that if He had faith in His Father to keep things in control, then so could they.
You may not know His plan, and may not see His hand. In times like that trust His heart.

pom, we don't always agree, but that's one of the better posts you've made if not the best! Well said. Your post and aspen's are very true.

One of the dangers - and I'm guilty of this at times - is trying to read the events of the Bible as my narrative or as an exemplar to how my life should be. We all long for the burning bush or chariots of fire moment, but the reality is that God often chooses different paths to express Himself. It's not on our time, it's on His time.

Go back to the parable of the mustard seed.

Luke 17:6 HCSB
"If you have faith the size of a mustard seed," the Lord said, "you can say to this mulberry tree, Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you.

I am also reminded of the Emmaus road, when the men remarked that as Jesus spoke, His words burned within them. The manifestations we should be looking for aren't burning bushes, but burning hearts. If you don't like mystery, then Christianity won't be for you. We are saved by the greatest mystery known to man, how God became human and died to fix us. We have denominations because we argue over the specifics of how He accomplished this salvation.

I Corinthians 15:51 HCSB
Listen! I am telling you a mystery: We will not all fall asleep, but we will all be changed,

I just want to make one final point clear.

There are NO mysteries. This is not scooby bloody doo.

Everything is revealed if you just stop trying to outsmart God. All the scripture reading, all the concordances, all the endless paper after paper and our heads are filled with so many ideas that we
cannot focus on the small quiet voice in our heads just saying calm down.

It is ravenous filibustering in our own heads that causes us to drown out that quiet voice.

Calm down
Adopt silence
Just be

God has never said that you have to go above and beyond your capacity as a human being, nor expects it. Just be YOU is all he ever commanded. And guess what? Being yourself is what you were born to do.

My thoughts exactly..... That's not to say that we understand everything, "But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things" (Mark 13:23).

So the only thing to know about God is the Gospel?

Well, the Gospel is everything. It speaks to our hearts. I believe it's also reflecting off of 1 John 2:22 NIV, 1 John 4:3 NIV, 2 John 1:7 NIV.

Rom 16:25 NIV Now to him who is able to establish you by my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past,

It is the most important thing, but it is not everything. Frankly, we know nothing about God or eternity. All we have is faith.
