English speakers who do say YHWH typically say “yahway”. Some English speakers write Jehovah and say that Jahova or Yahova. Jews typicallyl say Adonai meaning LORD in English.
Old Covenant Jews have no confusion as to who Lord refers. I find it is New Covenant people who get confused.

Agree. I think much of it stems modernly….from the ridiculous notion and advocation that ignorance is bliss…

God Bless you.

Glory to God,

What's in a name?

In Old Testament literature and scriptures generally speaking names are not tags.

And in our Westernized mindset it's easy for us to put our familiarities with Westernized Cultural literature into Ancient Near Eastern literature.
No matter how ludicrous this sounds when I mention it. We do it all the time. Jacob's name wasn't a tag....it was a title. Same as Israel is not a tag but a title. Same as Jesus's name is not a tag but a title. The same as YHWH is not a tag but a title.

We, as the majority of English speakers, do not read, write, or think in Hebrew.

Why on earth we try to use foreign language which is a title and not a tag as someone's proper name when God has never needed a name tag before He created Mankind is beyond me.
Or somehow believe that an omniscient God is offended by people ignorantly trying to pronounce a language never spoken by them.
Or that this omniscient God doesn't know who you are talking to when you pray or about when you speak about Him to another.

In my lifetime of blue collar work I've had so many nicknames its past the point of sanity. It's a wonder I even remember my real name. (My driver's license helps)

So I have a feeling that since God is the God of the whole earth....He has an understanding of people and the issues we face. He is not so legalistic as Jesus explained as He is interested in your heart's condition.

Focus on the majors, once that's done (which it never is) then focus on the minors.

I don’t believe that is true, Yahavah is the proper name of the God of Israel, or Yahweh however you are comfortable with saying. Jehovah, Yehova. That part is up to you.

You’re right we don’t.

Who’s to say Adam and Eve didn’t know Yahavahs name. Aside from that what language did they even speak. Beyond me.
Or somehow believe that an omniscient God is offended by people ignorantly trying to pronounce a language never spoken by them.

Do you like it when someone calls you by your actual name though? I have done a management class dealing with patients concerning anger. And mentioning their name was a huge part of the process.
So I have a feeling that since God is the God of the whole earth....He has an understanding of people and the issues we face. He is not so legalistic as Jesus explained as He is interested in your heart's condition.
He definitely is not * gonna smack ya down for mispronouncing it if anything.

Accuracy in using clearly identifying the person who is being discussed ensures that people will not be confused. Generic names like "Lord" leaves an open door to misunderstand - and it helps to keep people not understanding.
