Each morning we wake up with the hope of a new day!!! We hope for a good day, a blessed day full of His grace. But it doesn't always work out that way. Around every corner we see something new that tends to put a dent in our hope. We then get discouraged. Of course, God doesn't want us to be discouraged. He offers that hope each day of our lives. 1 Peter 1:3-6 tells us "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade--kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials."

So, it balances on our faith. If you get discouraged, has your faith waivered? I don't necessarily think so. This is one of the perks in being a child in Christ. He understands we have our days. But it's what we do in that moment of wavering faith that makes all the difference. Job 17:15 says "where then is my hope? Who can see any hope for me?" and the answer to that question Joshua 10:25 "Joshua said to them, "Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Be strong and courageous. This is what the LORD will do to all the enemies you are going to fight."

So here they are standing at Jericho. They have been told that their enemies will be given to them. Can you imaging the amount of hope and faith it took for that? And what happened? They followed God's instructions and the walls fell.

Hope, combined with faith is a very powerful thing. I think we forget this sometimes. When things seem so hopeless, we tend to give in but Christ doesn't want us to give up, rather, rise up and have faith He will carry you.

Romans 5:2-7
through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. 6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.

Amen, good post BA!

Just to add we often forget why scripture says God's peace surpasses all understanding Phill 4:7. It is because there is no logical reason to be happy or at peace.

That wife wanting divorce because of money problems has not got the peace of God that comes upon His people that stick to marriage / His will. Matt 16:25 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.
