When Sodom and Gomorrah were burnt up, those in the city received a judgement that will not be changed, its everlasting, thus the use of everlasting fire. Same as those wicked in the lake of fire, they will perish, with a final judgement that will separate them from God, forever.
That belief is called Annihilationism. One of three biblical doctrines of the final judgement.
Can you name the other two?

There you go! Like Jesus said, eternal life and eternal punishment. NEVER ending.
The separation is never ending thus the metaphor of the fire is used, as how could you say God has the power of life, and yet cannot bring back the wicked and sinners back. Thus the use of eternal fire which is a separation that will not be restored.

Metaphor? Scripture please. Luke 16 is not a parable and neither is eternal life.

I give you what Christ Himself told us, a contrast between eternal life and perishing (eternal death)...
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Eternal life and eternal punishment, same Greek word. NEVER ending!

Oh, and Jesus said "they will be tormented day and night FOREVER and EVER"!

Well lets see what scripture says, lets look at what will happen to the being created by God who brought sin into the world..

Ezekiel 28 King James Version (KJV)

"11 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.
13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.
19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more."

And not just for Satan but is also for the wicked...

Psalm 37:20 King James Version (KJV)
20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the Lord shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.

Isaiah 1:28 King James Version (KJV)
And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the Lord shall be consumed.

Isaiah 41:11 King James Version (KJV)
11 Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.

Malachi 4 King James Version (KJV)
1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts."

Where did the eternal hell fire doctrine come from?
That the wicked would burn for all eternity. Not be burned up.

Belief in Hell is not required for eternal residency therein.

Hello,

Who are to be blessed through God's earthly hosts? let us consider Gen 12:3: -

3 I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in/through you shall be blessed
All the families {of the world}, who inhabiting My fertile field/soil.

The Hebrew Root of הָאֲדָמָֽה, H:0127, is adamah which has the meaning of soil, and the Hebrew Word hā·’ă·ḏā·māh is akin to the fertile field/face of the land/world.

הָאֲדָמָֽה is also found in Genesis 2:7 where it has the same meaning: -
Genesis 2:7: –– 7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground/My fertile soil and {the Lord God} breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

One could argue that what is being said here is that all of the peoples of the world that occupy God’s fertile field/ground will be blessed. The flip side of this covenant Promise is that all of the people who do not occupy God’s fertile field/soil will not be Blessed but rather will die the Second Death.

Hello Jay,
You are using one verse of God's Word to create a whole doctrine which you should not do.

Scripture says that doctrine is given "here a little, and there a little" and that the sum of God's Word is truth:

Isa 28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. 10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: 11 For with stammering lips and another language will he speak to this people. 12 But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

Psa 119:160 The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever.

Below is a verse you are not considering in your doctrine:

John 3:18 He (a child of God) that believeth on him is not condemned: but he (mankind, children of the devil) that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

So who "believeth not"? The answer is mankind:

Rom 3:10 As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

And because mankind has sinned and does not believe in Christ, mankind is "condemned already".

Only after Christ gives a person the Holy Spirit and is "born again" as a child of God will they bless God and confess that Jesus is Lord:

1Cor 12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Spirit.

Since mankind's salvation is solely caused by the work of Christ and Christ came to save all mankind, all mankind will someday bless God and be saved:

Phi 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 and that every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

And as this verse says, the completed work of Christ will give glory to the Father.

Don't you believe that you must die because of your sins?

Eze 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

Or are you under Satan's deception just as Eve was?

Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

Because we are all "condemned already", Christ must make us into a new creation. Only AFTER we become a child of God will we bless God and be saved.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

For this reason, Christ will convert all mankind just as He was sent by His Father to do:

1John 4:14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.

Why do you believe that Christ will not save all mankind? Is it because the gospel you follow requires mankind to contribute their own work in with Christ's work which He does under the New Covenant? If so, you have changed the "free gift" into something that mankind must purchase.

Rom 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

Joe

Mark 9:47-48
47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire-- 48 where 'Their worm does not die, And the fire is not quenched.'

Everyone will be salted with fire.

Did you read the part "they will be tormented day and night forever and ever"?
I did.
Does that sound like justice to you?

If you were damned to hell, but had the option to be crucified as Jesus was instead, which would you choose?
Eternal hell, or a one day crucifixion?
