Agree John...it all falls under " walking in the Spirit" and "Abiding In Him." Which our heart always longs to do and our flesh fights against!!
Welcome to Christian Forums, a Christian Forum that recognizes that all Christians are a work in progress.

We hope to see you as a part of our community soon and God Bless!
And the key phrase is "IF WE BELIEVE."Eternal security is real.
It's what makes Christianity alive!
When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, we know we are with God and all his promises are ours.
Romans 11:29-32;
29 for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable.
30 Just as you who were at one time disobedient to God have now received mercy as a result of their disobedience,
31 so they too have now become disobedient in order that they too may now receive mercy as a result of God’s mercy to you.
32 For God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.
What this says is all we have to do is receive it and we have eternal security.
But don't kid yourself.
One who is truly filled with the Spirit of God will never give up their eternal security.
We receive this eternal security because of God's mercy on us.
Ever hear of the Mercy Seat of Christ?
If we believe, we will be there.
Praise the Lord!
Obedient to what? And the key phrase is "IF WE BELIEVE."
The Bible assures us that if we STOP believing and STOP being obedient - we LOSE it all (Matt. 5:13, Matt. 7:21, Rom. 11:22, Heb. 10:26-27, 2 Peter 2:20-22, 2 Peter 3:17, Rev. 3:5, Rev. 22:19)
.
But those verses all refer to castawaysAnd the key phrase is "IF WE BELIEVE."

No they don't. They refer to followers of Christ who have gone astray. But those verses all refer to castaways
That brings us full circle. No they don't. They refer to followers of Christ who have gone astray.
As a matter of fact, Heb. 10:26-27 and 2 Peter 2:20-22 speak about the EPIGNOSIS that only a truly converted, born again follower of Christ can have - and hos they can LOSE it all by their own doing.
What does the obedience entail and to what extent? To what??
To HIM - who else??
Are you saying obedience saves? To what??
To HIM - who else??
Before you can talk with the larger Christian audience about OSAS, you must first talk about whether or not a person always has free will. This because OSAS is theologically dependent on the idea that a saved person no longer has free will in this regard.Eternal security is real.
It's what makes Christianity alive!
That may be someone's idea but that is not what Scripture reveals. The eternal security of the believers is strictly based upon (1) the infinite grace of God and (2) the perfect finished work of Christ for our redemption. This because OSAS is theologically dependent on the idea that a saved person no longer has free will in this regard.
Are you saying obedience saves?
That may be someone's idea but that is not what Scripture reveals. The eternal security of the believers is strictly based upon (1) the infinite grace of God and (2) the perfect finished work of Christ for our redemption.
And free will does not disappear, but should ideally be conformed to the will of God (Rom 12:1,2).
...and all this with obedience on our part. Salvation, although a work of grace, is not something that God does without expecting something in return if He grants us the time to grow into Him. To whom much is given, more is required...and this includes time.
Does a person have free will to walk away from Christ and say "no thank you"?That may be someone's idea but that is not what Scripture reveals. The eternal security of the believers is strictly based upon (1) the infinite grace of God and (2) the perfect finished work of Christ for our redemption.
And free will does not disappear, but should ideally be conformed to the will of God (Rom 12:1,2).
That is your opinion.Does a person have free will to walk away from Christ and say "no thank you"?
OSAS is dependent on that answer being "no, that free will doesn't exist".
Why would anyone in their right mind do that? If someone offered you a million dollars with no strings attached, would you walk away or jump for joy? Eternal life cannot be measured in dollars, but it would be equivalent to billions.Does a person have free will to walk away from Christ and say "no thank you"?
That's a given. But our obedience does not save us. It proves that we are saved....and all this with obedience on our part.
