Error in KJV and NKJV

Yes. 1 John 5:6-8 is an error and one of the most egregious errors of the KJV.

This is why no modern translation renders the verses in the same way.

Only a KJVO would claim it is not an error.

I'm not KJV only. It reads plainly to me and not an error. What other translation are you talking about?

Erasmus didn't even want to use the words: "in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness on earth:" from 1 John 5:7-8 since only a handful of late manuscripts even have them. He only did so at the insistence of his Catholic overlords.

As to your example above...the Hebrew "bekirbechem" is usually translated as "in the midst of them".

However, in my bible... MSS ... it says "bekirbo"...which means "In his midst"....masculine singular....not plural as in the translations you listed.

So then since "in his midst" does not say well..."in the midst of him" is better. And this means that it is "within him"....not within them.

So then neither translation is accurate. Typical...

An example of this is from Ps. 131:2...

Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child.

This translation (KJV) is out to lunch and doesn't convey the spiritual ramifications of losing one's life for Christ. So the translators, nonspiritual as they were, were unable to show forth the gospel from the OT.

The Hebrew reads (transliterated of course)

Kegamoul aley imo, kagamoul alay naphshi.

Notice the rhythm in the text. A direct comparison with (a child) being weaned of his mother with a man being weaned of his soul (life).

So then a MUCH better rendering of Ps. 131:2 is "as (a child) is weaned of his mother, so I am weaned of my life".

My major point is that only in the New Covenant will the Holy Spirit dwell inside of more than prophets and kings.

Where did you get this very odd translation. I have many Hebrew tools and not one of them translates it like this. YOur last part is totally inconsistent with the context of the entire psalm. thge Psalmist is comparing his soul in quietness as a child weaned from its mother, and not a despairing of life.

LOL. I was trying to show non-Hebrew readers how that the same weight is given to both sides of the equation. As a child is weaned..and...as a man is weaned (I am weaned). And in the first case...from his mother...in the second case.."from my soul"

When we read the entire New Testament we find that Scripture will explain Scripture. Just be open to the Spirit enlightening His Word.
