Have you doubted God’s existence?
His power to heal or fix or save us?
His willingness to participate in His creation?

How do you deal with doubt in your spiritual life?

st. therese of lisieux lived and died young at the turn of the last century - she wrote about her doubt in her diary which is published as ‘the story of a soul’ - it is short, easy to read, and free online. It has helped me through some dark times.

However, this writing is Catholic so it is not for everyone - what writings have helped you through dark times? I usually turn to the Bible first and I assume most of you all do too; I am interested in your other ‘go to’ writings.

Hi Ron...
I can't say I have ever doubted my salvation...but I have doubted how well I am walking with Him! I walk, I fall, I get up, and walk again.

I have often second guessed re healing... I believe healing is in the atonement...and I have been healed many, many times...I do go in circles when I need healing and it doesn't manifest.

But, if it was not possible for us to doubt , then there would be nothing to overcome...and to be among the overcomer's of Rev 3 ..then we must first be tested. No test = no victory.

I believe it is all in the Plan.
I believe it is all by faith... ie ' Will I still believe God even when I do not understand or have the answers?' That's our test right unto our last breath. So, we 'hang-in' and trust the Father even when we don't understand and don't trust ourself.

Just my two cents ... :)

How can a person who complains (or even just talks) about what God does, or doesn't do, say they doubt His existence?

Ha, good one...we do so often hear people 'having a rant' about God or or against God..and then say " I could never believe in a God like that.."

Also there are those who rant about God and say none of it is true and God is not true...and we see China and Russian stepping back 90 years and closing home churches and denying open Christianity.

If God is such a lie...why on earth are they so frightened of the Christian beliefs .

Everyone doubts, nothing is certain... That's the test of faith, we plow forward despite our reservations and doubt, that's why we are all called by faith. Knowing is not believing, being certain requires no trust. You can know God exist and not love him, but you can't love God without faith. Consider that Satan knows God is real, but he still rebelled, but those who choose to believe by their own volition will never reject His Truth... jmo
