Good Evening Brothers and Sisters in Christ.

I have an entire weekend to myself. I'm home alone and I thought "hey, this will be a great time to get the house cleaned without all the interruptions and screaming kids and the added stress I already have. Well, after a couple of hours of the cleaning and as I started to pick up my kids stuff that was laying around, I started to miss them... dearly. So much so, I shed a few tears. Okay, a lot actually.

That got me thinking about my relationship with my children. It didn't take long before I had to think really hard about reasons they would have to appreciate me. I thought of all the missed opportunities to interact with them and all the fun things they wanted to do but I didn't take them or let them because I wanted to be left alone so I could stress over my marriage or work.

I have gone on and on about love and trying to understand what I could do to try to show my wife more love and I have neglected to love the most important ladies and guy in my life, my kids!!!! Man, if you have never had this feeling it hits hard. While I was cleaning I found "Get Well" cards they had made for my father while he was in the hospital and I never took them to see him so they could give them to him. They begged and I said no.... I almost collapsed when realized that.

I preach God's love to them all the time, they know Jesus, and they love The NewsBoys. (My son really likes Jars of Clay and my youngest adores for King and Country). But I don't show them the love of a father like our Heavenly Father shows us. I felt so foolish upon that realization. So do my children know I love them? They tell me they do without prompting and I tell them back, but do they feel I mean it? My marriage may fail, but my relationship with my kids is one that I will never let go.

Lord, when they get back, they will know the love of a father as You have shown us so many times!

So, can you answer yes to both of the Topic questions?

I find it interesting how we can debate scripture context till we are blue in the face, discuss political issues and atheist but no one can answer the two questions I posted..........

Thank you for sharing. Glad your kids love that kind of music. As it is hard for kids to love music like that!

Don't have children. I am married though, so I suppose the best I can do is apply the questions to my relationship with my wife. I'd have to say yes to both. We both attend the same Church and both do our best to thrive in the Church... Not just show up on Sunday, and I imagine everyone here can say the same thing (afterall, you thought enough to come to a message board to discuss the Word... I could say there are many misguided Christians here, but I would be hard pressed to say they aren't dedicated).

I suppose children would be another puzzle. They have pressures of growing up and their minds are like wet cement: all mixed up and unsettled. I teach middle school, so I know! I got 900 children I spend 8 hours a day with! ;)

The Lord saw it good not to give me children. But I do have an admiration for parents. The closest thing I can relate to is to say, "yes, when I'm not with my wife and not at Church with the brethren, I do ask if I've done enough to let them know I love them."

It always makes seeing them special.
