We have people who say they are "spirit led" or led by the spirit" or they spoke "by the spirit". but are they really?

We saw where a openly gay Episcopal bishop said he regrets the pain he caused believers, but he sees no need to repent because the spirit 'led us.'
"Gay Episcopal bishop says ‘Holy Spirit led us’ | The openly gay Episcopal bishop whose ordination threatens to fracture the worldwide Anglican Communion said Wednesday he “genuinely and deeply regrets” the pain this caused some believers, but he sees no need to repent because “the Holy Spirit led us” (USA Today)

How could this be the work of the "Holy Spirit" when it goes against Gods Word?
Leviticus 18:22
Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

That’s not the work of the Holy Spirit that’s a devil masquerading as an angel of light.

True repentance gives you the Holy Spirit so that you are clean. John 15:3. I know this is probably a new concept to those in denominations, any denomination, but you do not sin again once the desire to sin has been cleansed from your nature. Acts 2:38 and 1 John 1:9 are the same event taught by two different teachers. How many times do you need to become born again and receive the Holy Spirit? 1 John 3:9 "Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God."

We are all responsible for our words and deeds, one cannot blame alcohol, or other drugs or the ' Spirit ' for sins we commit.
Equally as you implied the Holy Spirit will Not encourage one to sin or to go against scripture.

As Jesus said, " Woe to those who cause my little ones to stumble ! " ( my paraphrase )

There is the Holy Spirit.

There is the Un-Holy Spirit.

If you are led of the Un-Holy Spirit, you are absolutely "spirit led", but you are not led by God's Spirit.

John Calvin was such a person.
He was led by an un-holy spirit to create "calvinism" that has destroyed the minds and the faith of millions upon millions, and continues to do so.

Also, its very important that the bible version you use, makes the DISTINCTION between God's Spirit and the Spirit of the Devil, that is the spirit of the world.

How does a REAL Bible makes this distinction?

A.) A Real BIBLE will say......>>"God is A Spirit".........and that is critical to know, because if you dont understand that there is God's Holy Spirit, vs... the Devil's unholy spirit, then when your "bible" says..>>"god is spirit", then you wont realize that your bible just taught you that there is no difference between the Un-Holy Spirit, and the HOLY Spirit.

I assure you that there is a supreme difference.

So, you never use a bible that teaches..>>"god is spirit" as that bible is CORRUPTED, and it will do that to you., reader.

This is found in John 4:24.

Do you have a Bible translation in mind?

Meaning he understands nothing about the Gospel message or its importance.

It's blasphemy of the Holy Spirit...

He literally does not care about God, only his position in the church. He doesn't care about the church either. He would rather it be destroyed so long as he gets to be a leader.

For some people, they would rather rule in hell than serve in heaven.

He's lying. The Holy Spirit would never lead us into willful sin against Himself.

God has spoken to me often ever since I was really filled with His Spirit in 1977. And instead of leading me into more willful sin, He took away all desire to sin and cleansed my nature to be able to partake of the divine nature of God. 2 Peter 1:1-11. Also one of the benefits of hearing His voice, 100 % of my prayers are answered, and I receive sometimes immediately, what He told me to pray. I never pray my own words. I just repeat His words which always starts with "If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you will (His words) and it shall be done unto you."

Gee.
After quite a few years, we finally agree on something.
Not too sure there's a difference between GOD IS SPIRIT and GOD IS A SPIRIT,
Certainly God is spirit
and certainly God is A spirit...
But because God is spirit does not deny that there is also an unholy spirit operating in the world.
At least, not in my understanding but this isn't something I would quibble about.

What a disingionuous bastard. Guarantee he doesn't regret a thing regarding his ordination. Those in the Anglican church it is time to get out.

Well let’s see…..
We become familiar with Christianity…..we decide that Christ is the Way to be saved from Hell and go to Heaven….We set our faith on Christ and believe He is the Son of Yahweh and a God…

We repent of our past ways and decide to follow Christ….we are Baptized and receive the Holy Spirit….and we participate in the Bread and Wine ritual….

We may or may not have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit when it is time to repent. Not that it is a instance in time.

And why are we so dead set on not doing what Christ and the Apostles told us to do. Is that defined as rebellion?

What is repentance?
Once we know the Way and the morals of Christ, we acknowledge how wrong our past ways were, and intend to change them to the Ways of Christ.

Not too sure there's a difference between GOD IS SPIRIT and GOD IS A SPIRIT,
"God is Spirit" is ontological, it says what He is, He is Spirit. "God is A spirit" is identification, there are spirits, and God is one of them.

Much love!

Thanks Marks.
But it doesn't help me!
God is spirit, God is a spirit.
Wait.
One is His nature...ontological.
One identifies Him.
(still seems the same. I could be real thick at times!).

As to your OP title... yes they need to repent. We see this with many churches in the book of Revelations, they I am sure thought they were all led by the spirit... yet each one was told to repent. To me this makes it obvious people will still need to repent...after being Christians.

the spirit 'led us.' "Gay Episcopal bishop says ‘Holy Spirit led us’
Was it "the spirit led us?" or was it the "Holy Spirit led us?"

There is a difference...I can believe that the spirit led them...not the Holy Spirit.

Gospel of Matthew, Jesus says, repent or perish.

Ezekiel chapter 33.

God warns the wicked to repent and change from their wicked ways. Or perish. Lake of fire.

Reprobates are resistant to the truth and being admonished. Lucifer downfall was pride. He refused to repent. He became more, and more resistant to the truth and obiedence.

Reprobates follow Satan. They're Resistant to correction and obiedence to God. There fit only for destruction.
Romans chapter 9. The vessels for destruction are Reprobates.

Choice is simple. Repent and submit to God will.

Or the lake of fire.

Its a individual choice.
