Let's use an average Muslim woman from Indonesia as an example. She was raised to believe Islam and that all other belief systems are lies. She leads an unremarkable life and doesn't engage in criminal activities and is a loving daughter, wife, and mother. When she dies, will she go to Hell?

That’s a question based on a religious lie…we all “go to hell” when we die……it is nothing more sinister that the common grave that receives all our dead. Those in the grave can see nothing, feel nothing, do nothing….they “sleep in death”, which is what Jews believed and also what Christ taught from Jewish Scripture. (Eccl 9:5,6,10) We die the same death as animals do…( Eccl 3:19-20)….we stop breathing and the soul (person) dies….(Ezek 18:4) we return to the dust, just as God told Adam. But because there is a promise of a resurrection, which is a return or restoration of life….death is not permanent……there is no immortal soul in man…he is a soul. (Gen 2:7) Souls are inherently mortal.

Read what Jesus said about his friend Lazarus….
John 11: 11-14…
”After he said these things, he added: “Lazʹa·rus our friend has fallen asleep, but I am traveling there to awaken him.” 12 The disciples then said to him: “Lord, if he is sleeping, he will get well.” 13 Jesus, however, had spoken about his death. But they imagined he was speaking about taking rest in sleep. 14 Then Jesus said to them plainly: “Lazʹa·rus has died”.

So where was Lazarus before Jesus resurrected him? He wasnt anywhere but “sleeping” in his tomb.
So death is like sleeping, only without dreaming……”hell” as a scary place of fiery punishment does not exist.
What would such a place accomplish? Jesus promices to raise all the dead….in lncluding those who died without knowing who the true God is. (John 5:28-29)

Can you please state what the requirement is for going to heaven?

Can you also say how any respectable, law abiding, charity giving, kind person fits into that requirement?

Jesus defeated death at the Cross. Jesus was the first fruits of those to rise after Him.

Matthew 27:52 - and tombs opened. The bodies of many godly men and women who had died were raised from the dead.

Those who die "in Christ" are resurrected too and are with Jesus Christ. Absent from the body, present with Christ. (
2 Corinthians 5:8)

From the 1800's to the present, missionaries have spanned the globe. Not one person has not heard of Jesus, in any of their languages. In this present time, Christianity is growing in Indonesia, Iran, Iraq. Mosques are closing and churches are being built. China is trying to rid Christianity from the country, but persecution grows more Christians. With world unrest, people are turning to Christ more and more.

God knows the heart of every individual. I think we are going be surprised who makes it to heaven and who does not.

I think we create our own hell by the sins we commit. They come back and bite us.

Yea, because Jesus had not yet paid for their sins through his sacrifice.

John 3:18 esv
Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

Thank you but your post does not directly answer my question.

But how do you square that with John 3:18? "Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God."

We do not know what is happening to a person just before he or she dies. I believe God gives each person a choice to either recieve or reject him, but we are not privy to it.

I am kind of surprised by the answers on this thread. I am one of those people who do not beat around the bush and I am going to answer this honestly.

Yes, she does go to Hell. Jesus proclaimed that he alone is the only way to heaven (John 14:6). Even if a Muslim lives a virtuous life, they still go to Hell.

We do not know what is happening to a person just before he or she dies.

In this scenario I'm discussing a person who died having NOT believed in Jesus.

John 3:18 says that an unbelieving person is condemned.

So, my question remains, did the woman in my example go to Hell?

I am not obfuscating anything, but correcting an obfuscation that took place when “Christianity“ accepted the pagan Greek idea of the immortal soul. There is no such thing as an immortal soul….you will not find those words side by side in any passage of scripture. Jesus never taught that a “soul” is something that goes to heaven or hell.
A “soul” in the Bible, is a living, breathing creature. it never means a disembodied spirit.
The words translated as “hell” are misleading because they do not mean what Christendom teaches.
Jews did not believe in immortal souls from their Scripture…they adopted it later from Greek influence.

Those in the grave can see nothing, feel nothing, do nothing….they “sleep in death”, which is what Jews believed and also what Christ taught from Jewish Scripture. (Eccl 9:5,6,10)
NotRheRock said:

What did Jesus‘ sacrifice do for mankind who accepted him as the Christ? It saved them…..but saved them from what? Hell?
NO! It saved them from God’s wrath which will be brought to bear on all who disobey the teachings of his son and who did what the Pharisees did to Judaism….they corrupted it with ‘the doctrines of men’ as Jesus said in Matt 15:7-9. This made their worship invalid because what they taught wasn’t the truth. Jesus warned that the devil would do to Christianity exactly what he did to Judaism. Christendom, with its multitude of man made doctrines is the “weeds” of Jesus parable. Hopelessly divided and confused as to what is actually truth….as your thread suggests. So what does the Bible really teach as opposed to what people believe that it does?

If there is no immortal soul, then no one has gone anywhere but to sleep.

If the dead are not dead, then God lied to Adam, who was told that he would “surely die” if he disobeyed God’s command. It was the devil who said “you surely will NOT die”….and he has the whole world believing him. Every false religion in the world teaches this lie. So there is no such thing as “heaven or hell” as opposite destinations for an immortal soul. All souls are dead in their graves, (Sheol/hades) awaiting the resurrection that Jesus promised.
John 5:28-29…
“Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.”

He spoke of a future time…..a time when his kingdom would rule the whole earth…..a time he taught us to pray for…”Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN”.…this is not something that has already taken place.…we still await its ‘coming’.

The woman in your OP will be judged on her individual heart condition, not on what label she wore or was raised with. If she was one of Christ’s sheep at heart, he would have given her opportunity to hear the gospel message and called her into his flock….if she is in her grave, she will also be given opportunity to learn about the true God and his son…..having ‘paid sin’s wages’ with her own death. Jesus’ sacrifice guarantees her a resurrection, which would be redundant if he was only to send her to hell. What kind of sadistic God would do such a thing?
Those condemned to “Gehenna” (not hades) will never see life again. They will not be resurrected…..but only God knows the condition of a person’s heart.

Why would God send people to eternal punishment for a short lifetime of sin? The punishment does not fit the crime….especially since we inherited our sinful condition from Adam. Sin is born in us…we did not ask for it. But God shows us what is sinful in his eyes, so that we can take measures to avoid it.
