It illustrates both the servant humility with which we are to minister one to another as well as that, apparently there is going to be some washing of some kind still required even after having had the whole bath.
I believe there is a reason why Jesus taught the washing of feet at the last supper/Passover when He ordained the bread and wine to remember His death. They are both related. We are to examine ourselves before we eat of the Lord's table. In order to bring anything to the cross that needs to be repented of. To cleanse our conscience anew as needed.
