I won't. As I showed you even fauci knows it is not that bad. The lockdown in America is illegal and the Governors that will not let us free to follow guidelines than they should be brought up on treason charges
You haven’t showed me anything of real proof, you believe it is not as bad , and you equally believe you won’t succumb, but that is not the same as proving you are right. I hope you are, but until this is over you won’t know for sure.........
I agree that some of the governors are over stepping the mark with restrictions, but perhaps President trump shouldn’t have given each state governor the power to handle the lockdown their way. Perhaps the president should have set the guidelines and ordered each state governor to follow the guidelines........... he seems a bit pre occupied with the best outcome for the election...............

@Rita: Canada is actually similar in that it's the provinces rather than central government that hold a lot of the legislative responsibility for health measures. Mr Trump is very different from Mr. Trudeau, yet the Federal nature of the American and Canadian systems are in that way comparable; and the reciprocal and overlapping responsibilities have been a subject of much debate for decades and back to the 19th century, from a constitutional perspective.

Hi Farouk,
In normal circumstances we have the same, local and governmental responsibility and power, but within the Covid-19, the responsibility is governed by the prime minister and his ministers. They set the rules and restrictions, each county , local council authority has to follow suit. However we are a smaller country, perhaps that’s a factor.

He had no choice. That power is reserved to the states under Article 10 of the Constitution.

I thought, at first, the president Trump set the restrictions and lockdown, then , later on, gave the power to the governors. The local governors don’t have complete power though, do they ?

@Rita There's also the colossal size of Canada: Newfoundland is nearer to you guys than to Vancouver on the Pacific: for practical reasons the details of sanitary measures have to be a provincial matter; one size fits all would likely create bureaucratic nightmares with Inuit and First Nations in the far north being forced in all weathers to jump to same bureaucratic tune as Downtown Toronto.

So sorry to hear this, how is your brother doing ?
How are you ?
Rita xx

About to go to bed. They started a trial treatment on my brother where he won’t know what he is getting. his oxygen level drops every time he tries to move around. They are both on the same isolation floor but can’t see each other. But at least my brother gets constant updates on her since they have the same nurse. I don’t know. Even though my mother is 89 she has always had a very strong immunity. She had no symptoms that indicated pneumonia and no fever. That is what she did tell me: that she didn’t know because she was watching for a fever. But she started not being able to keep her balance. Right now it is one day at a time. Thank you for asking and for everyones prayers for her.

There is the commerce clause that does give the federal government some powers in states, but Article 10 reserves any powers not specifically given to the federal government, to the states.

If Trump had acted in a timely manner, I think all states would have followed his lead. But he dithered and denied the problem for too long, and the states acted without him. After that, they weren't much inclined to listen to him. And without an statutory powers, he was unable to do very much.

So do the State Governors have the power to stop the lock downs and open up all the shops ect if they wanted to?

Yep. Unless someone can make a compelling case for such things to be primarily a matter of interstate commerce. The courts have generally been pretty wary of extending federal power thereby, so not likely.
