Can you make a "covenant" with God nowadays?

Like can someone just decide "I'm gonna make my own covenant with God" and then they will end up in the bible?
The New Covenant is between God and Jesus in order to secure our salvation. Our part is to put our trust in Christ and therefore commit ourselves to Christ's side of the covenant. If we decide to make our own covenant with God, then we are sidestepping Jesus to our own harm.

Biblical covenants follow the pattern of Ancient Near East (ANE) covenants.

There are two main types:
1. A covenant between a "great lord" and his vassals, In Biblical terms between God and man. They are always initiated by God (the "great lord")
This breaks down into two types:
a) a Grant Covenant where the "great lord" says I will do this for you. There are no conditions. (example - God's covenant with Abraham)
b) A Conditional Covenant where there are conditions for the vassal to keep (example - the Mosaic Covenant)

2. A Parity Covenant between equals. Either can initiate (example - David's covenant with Jonathan).

I suppose God could make a covenant with anyone if he wanted to. It would be at his initiation but I can't think why he would do that.

one can come into agreement with the Lord God, through and in Jesus Christ, He is the everlasting covenant. if the Lord calls you for a thing surly He agrees to do whatever it takes for that thing to be fulfilled. that is exactly what the Lord God did with anyone in the bible who God made covenant with. but you should understand that God makes the covenant or agreement, not man. and if there is a case where man did and God agreed then it was God's intention in the first place, some call it drawn to, or a preparation of the heart. such as Samuel's mother for example.

If it fit His purpose in conforming us to Christ, He might I think. But just a personal matter between Him and that person, I think.

Much love!
