The Bible says the soul is mortal. It has always said that. Please, look at those Scriptures with a Lexicon / interlinear.

At Genesis 2:7, when Adam was created, he “became” a soul; he wasn’t given one.

And when he rebelled, God told him (at Genesis 3:19): “You will return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are, and to dust you will return.”

God was addressing Adam, the person. God wasn’t talking to his body.

When he died, Adam the person, the soul, died.

The Bible tells us that animals are souls, and they die, too. — Revelation 16:3

The difference between death of the animals and death of humans, is nothing. — Ecclesiastes 3:19,20

However, humans are promised a future resurrection. (John 5:28,29; Acts 24:15; John 6:40; etc.) That’s the hope we have, to live again.

People have debated the relationship and functionality between the body, the soul, and the spirit, and all that relates to them for centuries.

Theologians discuss it but do not debate it because they know that they are done before they start. Can the details be expressed in human words? Can the human mind comprehend the reality of it?

The scriptures use the word soul in different ways but makes no attempt to specifically define the relationship and functionality between the body, the soul, and the spirit, and all that relates to them.

So what is left is a whole lot of speculation….nothing wrong with that…it is a worth while thing to ponder.
