Q1. Did Jesus knock on the door of the upper room? No, He simply stood there in the midst of them and pronounced Peace on the place.

Q2. Sounds like we can just ask Jesus over for tea anytime we so please. Let's not lose focus that He is the Creator and Sustainer of the entire Universe. Such a cavalier and flippant manner in which we Christians speak of our Lord amazes me sometimes.

Let's get a debate going here shall we??? :D

Andy, I propose that you were offended. Now since this in the Debate Forum, I say it's time we debate about whether or not you were offended or surprised. :p

P.S. I think I'm past my bedtime . . . . .

Hi all, meshak I can see yo uare much fyrther along than many. Just a simple point, bigandym, who do you thnk God is. are you so suprised,??

Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me

Jesus is with us always, it is man that relegates Him to days of teh week and when He can and cannot speak. God always has something to say, it is just that very few are listening.

Mat_13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, And their ears are dull of hearing, And their eyes they have closed; Lest haply they should perceive with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, And should turn again, And I should heal them.

Luk_9:35 And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my Son, my chosen: hear ye him.

Joh 10:26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep.
Joh 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

We choose whom we wil follow, for some it is Jesus, for some it is the bible for some its church. I know where my salvation is and it is not in the last two

Not only do I answer yes to both, but have done so repeatably in regards to question 2

And a question for you mjrhealty just how is it you even know Jesus, where and how were you introduced?

MJ, do you realize Rev 3:20 is a REBUKE against the church, NOT and invitation. The person knocking at the door isn't Jesus the Fuller Brush Man but Jesus the JUDGE (James 5:9). To order our lives around that verse as an invitation is a grave mistake.

Rex, a dilemma, was born and raised as a catholic, never knew Jesus nor God, just that there where these people. Had first encounter with the Holy Spirit somewhere around 79,80, discovered His Love for me somewhere around 82,83 gave my live to Him around 95, attended cc churches for a while till the one I was in fell apart, went to another than quit and now just followed Him, I was once asked the question. will you follow pastor so and so to here, and I said no, i will never follow after man again, As i said wasnt long after I quit church, best thing I ever did sorry to say.

As for Jesus, I once had a dream, where I was on my knees at His crucifixion, the cross was still not raised up, and I was at his right hand looking straight into His eyes, and He said to me, " David I did this for You", always smiling, than dream ended.

I guess you could call that an introduction.

Thanks for the reply, my point in asking is and was, that we should not as you say, worship men or as others say the bible, I really don't know how you worship a book that contains Gods testimony but some believe this to be the case.

My point is you heard the word from somewhere even the catholic church will point to the bible on occasion. We have all heard it from somewhere or from someone that quotes the bible, teaches from it, I don't care for the idea that some have about burning the bridge they themselves crossed over meaning the bible. There is not one person that can claim they have come unto the knowledge of the holy one aside of the recorded word.
It's a multipurpose tool, to the Pharisees it became a whip to keep people under the yoke of bondage, to others like Jesus it gives life, or in his hands as well it bears a sword. With out it, it would be a much darker world. Many people today quote it but lack the authority of the Spirit, the Lord does not turn my ear to their voices, we should all ask and learn to discern the shepherds voice, If for no other reason simply because the wolves are reading from the same pages.

Thanks again for the reply, My post may have seemed sharp but my message is peace.

It is simple and basic principle yet too many churchgoers dont realize that they are not following Jesus; they are following their denomination or organization and their doctrines.

thank you mjr:)

More light on teh subject Rex. I have a firend who is a JW, his parents are JWs and that is how was brought up. Many times we had bible discussion but His religion always came first, His wife was quiet often theer and listened on. One day I wen over and he had to drop his kids at school. When he had left his said to me, Could you tell me about Jesus, when you to talk all he does is talk about the bible but when you speak you speak from experience and i can see the difference. So I did. and without the bible Jesus was glorifed, but she said herself she kinew what I said was true because another christian had told het the exact same thing. The bible has its place but for many it has replaced God Jesus and teh Holy Spirit and teh effect is quiet obvious.
