May I ask you to show me it from verses in 1 John that apply to the church today
If by NT you mean the four gospels I am saying they contained their gospel of the kingdom, given primarily to Israel to believeSo you're saying the NT isn't for Christians!
Ok I could apply to myself that but how are we made children of God?
1 John 1:9May I ask you to show me it from verses in 1 John that apply to the church today
[1Jo 1:9 KJV] 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.1 John 1:9
Unless you believe that we cannot seek forgiveness when we sin.
I’m not entirely sure what you mean, yet it’s widely acknowledged that following Cornelius, the barriers separating Jewish and Gentile Christians ceased to exist. The nation of Israel does not just mean unbelieving Israel...
I was saying the nation of Israel is not just unbelieving IsraelI’m not entirely sure what you mean
We learned that from Paulfollowing Cornelius, the barriers separating Jewish and Gentile Christians ceased to exist.
We all know that all the first Christians were Jews.I was saying the nation of Israel is not just unbelieving Israel
Yes God forbid that such a text should apply to the church. Keep His commandments? Do things that are pleasing to God?? Who could possibly be so stupid for thinking that Christians ought to keep God's commandments right?[1Jo 3:22 KJV] 22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
If one would think this applies to the church today it would be disillusioned
Reading comprehension check. The verse says, "We LOVE the children of God when we love God and keep his commandments." It's about loving each other and loving God. It doesn't say anything about HOW we become children of God. But if you want to know John's take on "how", see John 1:12. "To all who received Him, He gave the right to become children of God". Receiving Him. As one would welcome a person into his home. Or his life.Ok I could apply to myself that but how are we made children of God?
For Israel they had to keep the commandments
[1Jo 5:2 KJV] 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

We are by faith
[Gal 3:26 KJV] 26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
So why are you trying to build that wall back up?[Eph 2:14 KJV] 14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition [between us];
We have to know what is written to us ....at the extreme it can be dangerousYes God forbid that such a text should apply to the church. Keep His commandments? Do things that are pleasing to God?? Who could possibly be so stupid for thinking that Christians ought to keep God's commandments right?
You are right I should have included the surrounding versesReading comprehension check. The verse says, "We LOVE the children of God when we love God and keep his commandments." [Act 15:10-11 KJV] 10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? 11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.1. Our Jewish brothers and sisters in Christ are saved the same way we are, as James says in Acts15:11: "No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”
Totally agree2. Justification has always been through faith. It's a Jewish concept derived from the OT. As Paul quotes Genesis 15:6, "Abraham believed the Lord and it was accounted to him as righteousness." And Habakkuk 2:4, "the righteous shall live by faith".
Right but they had to keep the commandments to be blameless to enter the promised kingdom on earthKeeping the commandments of Torah is an EXPRESSION of their faith.
Not the case...there is neither Jew or Gentile as revealed by PaulSo why are you trying to build that wall back up?
