    The Wisdom of Sirach/Ecclesiasticus

Nah it's just because it is preserved in Greek and there is a weird Hebrew fetishization people have going on. It became universally accepted in the Church though so it is definitely divinely inspired (for the Church receives what God gives). It is based on Sirach's wisdom and him "being led" to...

When one is deceived, does that make him a sinner?

It isn't bad to know good and evil in a certain sense, and your point about God's knowledge is true, so it is not evil in the sense that God has. I think what Genesis is referring to here is experiential knowledge of evil, that is, of having done it, dwelt in it, been corrupted even to your soul...

When one is deceived, does that make him a sinner?

Yes, because Eve proceeded from Adam and in a sense was in Adam. She herself knew God commanded her and it also says in Scripture "she became a transgressor," but transgressors transgress a Commandment. It also says "because of a woman we all die," so in some sense this is also imputed to her.

When one is deceived, does that make him a sinner?

She is a sinner because she knew it violated the commandment of God. The deception was only in part of her intention in eating it, not wholly though. Their eyes were opened and they did not physically die immediately, this much was true. But the whole story was not told and that their eyes...

When one is deceived, does that make him a sinner?

I think she was punished for both, as she knew it violated the commandment of God.

When one is deceived, does that make him a sinner?

Sin is by definition a knowing choice. You can not be deceived into sin. If a person is deceived into sin but also punished for it by God (like Eve) then it means there are elements of it they were not deceived about at all.

    The Wisdom of Sirach/Ecclesiasticus

I consider it inspired Scripture and I am not sure where you think it denies inspiration for itself. Other than that it is one of my favorite books of the Wisdom Literature in Scripture and contains a prayer I say often: "O Lord, Father and God of my life, give me not a proud look. Turn away...

The Christian Resurrection vs. the Jew's Resurrection

Expanding on this for you are correct: What then does St. Paul mean about a spiritual body? I think he is simply referring to having a body which is not ruled by sinful flesh but is ruled by the spirit (but it does have flesh and bones), and it has peculiar qualities. One can look at what Jesus...

I have a question that remains unanswered:

    1) I am saying this and this only: (a) The Son and the Father do the same act of sending the Holy Spirit, (b) St. Peter is saying the Son poured out the Holy Spirit. 2) Septuagint Psalter, it's the one I use, hence the alternative numbering like [31 in Hebrew = 30 in LXX, 9&10 in Hebrew = 9 in...

    John 14:6 and Context

While self-effort (that is natural self-effort, self-exertion in the Spirit is another matter) is useless to go to the Father I do not see how one does not go to be with the Lord at death for it says "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" and "if I make my bed in the grave...

    God is so good

Amen! May the Lord be praised forever and ever! Psalm 117 [118]: Give praise to Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Let Israel now say that he is good: that his mercy endureth for ever. Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever. Let them that fear the...

Refuting soul sleep, aka dirt nap doctrine

Prove it then, I did not make an interpretation I asked you questions about your interpretation from the article you copy-and-pasted. I am not convicted to anything in the sense that I would not change my opinion and leave my Church if I was proven to be wrong. I am ultimately bound to what God...

Does God send people to hell forever?

A punishment lasting through the final age of the world, which is unending, like the eternal life of the righteous. Nothing indicates anything more happens after this.

Does God send people to hell forever?

An age can be unending, just like our Resurrection life. If our Resurrection life is unending then so also is the punishment of the Resurrected condemned. Moreover, a Resurrected body is incorruptible, it will not cease to be. "And these will depart into eternal punishment, but the righteous...

Refuting soul sleep, aka dirt nap doctrine

Some of the things it assumes without proving in more detail: 1) That the soul only means the combination of a body and breath of life (which is in itself undefined, and the manner of it's return to God is undefined). 2) And assuming this is even true, for their definition can be assumed, it...

Refuting soul sleep, aka dirt nap doctrine

Nowhere is death defined, assertions about the translation in Luke and 1 Peter with no proof provided that this is so, metaphysical assumptions about the soul and the continuity of personhood without it's existence, assuming said definitions of the soul provided are the exclusive definitions of...

Refuting soul sleep, aka dirt nap doctrine

I see. Well your case is based in definitions and understandings beyond Scripture, for I can (and do) quote the same Scriptures to prove my half-decent case for the immortality position, which I think is sufficient to represent it. God bless.

Refuting soul sleep, aka dirt nap doctrine

What's your definition of death? Mine is not convoluted at all and if you want an explication on precisely every sense I use death in I can provide that in as much detail as you require. May God keep me from being vague and not being able to pronounce what is in my soul as that in itself is a...
