Why are so many Christians still so confused about the afterlife?

Those fallen Angels I suspect are in Tartarus (the prison).

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

I can't argue with your statement. I think we differ on how Election and a few other Calvinist beliefs are defined but I do believe that not everyone who has Calvinist views cling to that position because they wish or desire to live a sinful life. Some do though. I also know that we must slay...

New Testament Timeline. Destruction of the Temple in 70 AD

I sorta butchered my post. I think it makes sense that all of the New Testament was written prior to 70 AD with the possible exception of Revelation. Because Revelation was authored by Jesus Christ via John and its message was specific and had no reason to go over historical events. I believe...

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

I've come across TUPLIP Calvinist and TUPLI Calvinist and TUPL Calvinist and so forth. They are a mixed bag.

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

I hope John Calvin is there and you too. We disagree on the meaning of certain scripture. There is a difference between a man committing a sin and a person who chooses to live a sinful life, to reject God. Jesus told the Apostles that he would send a helper, the Holy Spirit. What do you expect...

Timothy and the Church of Ephesus - Revelation 2

Church history has Timothy in the position of Bishop at the Church in Ephesus. It also tells us that he was stoned to death for preaching against the goddess Diana sometime between 95-98 AD. In Revelation 2 we find God is not pleased with the Church in Ephesus due to its loss of love for God...

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

If Calvinism were true then the cross would not have been necessary.

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Jesus told the Apostles after his resurrection to preach the Gospel to the world. If Calvin's definition of Elect is true then the Apostles were not...

New Testament Timeline. Destruction of the Temple in 70 AD

History shows that Timothy was the Bishop of the Church in Ephesus after Pauls's death. We would have to believe that the Church declined and fell out of favor with God during Timothy's watch. Timothy was a very young man at Paul's death. Timothy could have lost the flock or it could have...

New Testament Timeline. Destruction of the Temple in 70 AD

History has Timothy being killed in 97 AD and that he was the Bishop of the Church in Ephesus. History has it that he was stoned to death for preaching against pagan worship. This gives a clue that things started going bad in his later years. If Timothy was still the Bishop in 95 AD was the...

New Testament Timeline. Destruction of the Temple in 70 AD

We must consider this too. (see below) One thing that lends itself to a later date is the letter to Ephesus. Right before Paul's death in 67 AD in his letter to the Church Ephesians 1:15 Paul seems pleased with the condition of the Church at that time. Mentioning their faith in the Lord and...

And we can apply that logic to any and everything that enters a person's mind.

New Testament Timeline. Destruction of the Temple in 70 AD

It could have. If I have to vote I'm going with the later date but I would not fall on my sword on this question.

Why are so many Christians still so confused about the afterlife?

Nothing we can do to save someone else. Only Jesus saves. Your spot on, no prayer is going to benefit them.

New Testament Timeline. Destruction of the Temple in 70 AD

I've been studying the writings of the early Church Fathers. Lots of information out there and the vast majority from those who lived from 100 AD to 300 AD are in line with the scriptures. They give a lot of information on how Gnostic cults and various false teachings were attempting to corrupt...

New Testament Timeline. Destruction of the Temple in 70 AD

I've seen some claim that John's Gospel was written in 80-90 AD. 1,2,3 John in 90-95 AD. Seems like it would have been mentioned if those dates are correct. I can understand Revelation not mentioning it due to it's purpose. One of those things to ponder.

Why are so many Christians still so confused about the afterlife?

This is exactly as I believe. Thanks for taking the time to present it. I think that Matthew 27:52 is referring to the O.T. Saints (or at least some of the O.T Saints). Jesus says in Matthew 8:11 many will come from the east and west and will sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the...
