What Do You Learn from Debate?

Thank you. Do I understand correctly that if you think all scripture is spirit, none of it is to be taken literally? Please correct me if I've got that wrong. As far as there being 'no more male or female' do you mean from Galatians 3:28? Does that mean there is also no more Jew or Greek...

What Do You Learn from Debate?

I had that ready to post, too ;)

What Do You Learn from Debate?

Ah. Ok, yes Jesus isn't an actual lamb, nor is He a piece of bread or water. He said His words are "spirit and life." Yes, the symbolism of marriage is applied to Christ and the church as Bridegroom and Bride. What parable? Paul's letter to the church in Corinth was to address the many...

What Do You Learn from Debate?

I just wondered why the other poster indicated (it seemed to me) that 'woman' meant something else. The church in Corinth had many issues - lots of divisions, pride and misuse of the spiritual gifts, etc. Paul's first letter to them was to address these (and other) issues and to retain order in...

What Do You Learn from Debate?

Could I ask what you take "women" to mean, and if not actual women, then what and how do you come by that definition? Thank you ~

    True or false?

The assurance of salvation doesn't mean believers stop trying to do "God's work." "What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?" Romans 6:1-2 But works come as a result of salvation - not to earn...

Is infant baptism from the Bible?

Scripture doesn't teach infant baptism. Some of the verses used to support this are taken out of context such as Acts 2:39 "For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.” Note the promise is for you and your children...

Thank you! I'm sure ;) I usually post on CARM but they've been down for a while so needed to find another good place. There are a lot of discussion boards out there, I went through several and found this one. I'll probably continue on here even after CARM comes back up. Thank you for your message :)

    Why are you here?

Hello! I'm also new here, but not new to Christian/Apologetics forums - and another CARM refugee ;) I've been saved for almost 50 years and ever since the day I accepted Christ I've had a huge burden for the lost. Seeing so much deception, blindness, and lies of the enemy my heart breaks so I...

    Pentecostalism

I've read the Gospel texts, thanks :) One has to take into consideration who Jesus was ministering to - the culture of the time. Jewish Rabbis of the day considered saliva a treatment for blindness. Jesus did what He did to show people He was who He said He was. Of course there were times...

    Pentecostalism

I've never heard anyone refer to Jesus' methods of healing as 'gimmicks', hmm. As I mentioned before, pointing out Paul didn't 'lay hands' on anything, per the verse in Acts. I do believe God heals, I believe many times He uses extraordinary measures; I believe in scriptural laying on of...

    Pentecostalism

Paul didn't 'lay hands on' anything. Acts 19:11-12 says "God was performing miracles by the hands of Paul, so that handkerchiefs or aprons were even carried from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out." Jesus' healing employs 'gimmicks...'? Am I...

    Cult Defenders

Yes, all the above. What I'm also seeing a lot is the acceptance of the not so obvious sects as "just another denomination", especially with Roman Catholicism. Sadly I see this with people who profess to be born again believers who should be able to tell the truth from a lie.
