@Enoch111, thanks! I'm probably going to post my testimony is the testimony thread sometime soon.

    Hate

No kidding! But we really do enjoy our new church home. It's less of a dog and pony show and way more Christ-centered. And weekly communion vice once-a-month communion. It's considerably more spiritually fulfilling than our former church.

Is the Bible literal or figurative

Good point! I was stating that in terms of the NT. I should've phrased that better.

    Hate

Bingo! You hit the nail on the head. We recently left our church because they were so obsessed with gaining numbers and getting bigger that they sacrificed hell and sin so as not to offend people. The pastor even got rid of the cross so that nobody would be offended. There are multiple other...

Is the Bible literal or figurative

I'm completely on board with what you posted here. The only figurative thing in the Bible are the parables, which was done deliberately by Jesus to make His points.

Thanks, Mark! Besides metal, on the Christian music front, I really like Jeremy Camp, Third Day, Hillsong, Phil Wickham and Casting Crowns.

Hi Butterfly. To my knowledge, no Christian band has used bad language in their songs. Like secular heavy bands, there are good and bad Christian heavy bands. The ones I like are the same I listed earlier - P.O.D., Pillar, Fit For A King and For Today. Some other good ones that come to mind...

    Oh that game of thrones!

I loved Game of Thrones, but I'll pass on the therapy LOL. TV shows come and go.

    Why are you here?

I belong to fair amount of metal music forums, which can be rather caustic at times. I figured I would try out a Christian forum to bond (electronically, at least) with other Christians, and to gain perspectives on our faith from fellow Christians.

Fit For A King and For Today may be a bit hardcore for your tastes. They're very heavy, and the lyrics show that they are quite bold in their faith (huge plus!!). For Today broke up a couple of years ago. Their guitarist left the band so that he and his wife could do missionary work in the...

Thanks, Mayflower! I'm not really into Skillet that much. But when it comes to Christian metal bands, I do enjoy Pillar, P.O.D., Fit For A King and For Today.

Hello, my name is Mike and I just joined the board tonight. Up until 2005, I was an Atheist, but converted to Christianity in 2005. My top 3 loves in life are God, family and metal music (hence my name and avatar). I couldn't find another thread where new people can introduce themselves, so I...
