Many even Christians say they cant resist that they are helpless against it, that it sweeps them along and they have no way to stop it or control temptation. Is that true, is that the way to handle temptation. Or is temptation a testing of our faith. How do we meet it with a flag of surrender, is it our lot to fall into temptation when Satan comes with his traps or do we with the help of Christ resist and overcome.

Say the Lord's Prayer before you are tempted.
As the Lord's Prayer says, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. What's his will? If we never do his will,How can we resist temptation,It's all in vain.

Very nice, and we are sometimes tested like Job, and of course Christ in the wilderness. But we have this..

1 Corinthians 10:13
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

I think it depends on what we are tempted with; it's easier to resist some temptations that others.

It is impossible to meet temptation consistently without preparation. Those who wait to pray when temptation comes will often be overcome.

When I am faithful to "pray without ceasing," so to speak, it is nearly impossible for the tempter to prevail against me. Sometimes some conscious effort is required at the time of temptation, particularly the surprising ones or the ones to which we are naturally more susceptible.

But when a person makes a determined habit of clinging to the promises of God, they are as safe from temptation as if they were inside the very City of God.

I say this not as boasting (because I do fail to stay prepared at times), but praying as Christ and Daniel and Joseph and yes, even David prayed fortifies the heart with God's Word, which literally has inherent power to work out His will in the life in real time.

Isaiah 55:11 NKJV — "So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it."

And His Word says:

John 8:11 NKJV — “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

the Struggling is real... and I'm with this right now...it's not at all easy...I'm ashamed to say...

And sadly I enjoy the temptation as a way of escape ....it's usually when I am alone and thoughts creep in unannounced.......and before I know it, I'm devoured, gone....engulfed in misery afterwards.. and now I am getting to the point where where I am sick of it... really sick it, and truly seeing the stupid devil holding power over my life and thats why I started to hate on the person who caused me so much pain...because it was easier....I was blinded, instead of seeing who is really the culprit... the scheming subtle devil. Glory to God for showing me this.

1 Peter 5:8

K J V

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Also, Psalm 91.

What trips me up, is helping others, sometimes I fall into the sin of omission, whether just not fully aware or distracted..
