He breathed on them a command. Are you saying that when Jesus told the 11 to receive the Holy Spirit, they refused?
Here are a few things to think about..
When Moses brought the 10 Commandments, 3000 died.
When the Day of Pentecost arrived, and those in the upper room were empowered, 3000 that day were (made alive) and added to the church.
So the Law was given and people died, and Grace was given and people were made alive.
Something else that you might notice is that Peter, on that day, spoke in foreign languages (Gift of Tongues), yet none of the 3000 that were added to the church did this.. except those in the upper room.
Its says that those among the 3000 heard Peter operate in that Specific Gift, but none of them did.
Did you ever wonder why?
Later, he showed them his resurrected, glorified self.
The Holy Ghost was not yet given because Jesus was not yet glorified when He breathed on them, correct?...
38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
