Maybe you should have spent the time reading the Bible 40 years like me.
You are sorta grouchy today.

I have the same experience in reading and teaching as the apostle John.

As a matter of fact, the OP is what John taught.

Try memorizing the verses in the OP by heart and see how your rhetoric suddenly sounds like the apostles' rhetoric.

Problem is, your friends will be aghast.

Well, I do get upset when people who call themselves Christians and attack our Bible.

You met Jesus in person?

I seriously doubt that you met Jesus in person like John did.

I seriously doubt that you met Jesus in person like John did.
Actually, I would rather meet Jesus via the baptism of the Holy Ghost as He entered into my body than just shake his hand.

Howbout you?

Those who truly know Jesus don't reject and try to rewrite the Bible.

So you didn't really meet and know Jesus like John did.
John knew him physically in the flesh, but also had the Holy Ghost(Christ in him).

I have Christ in me.

John had one up on me.

...or quote verses from him saying things about his God?
You didn't know Jesus "emptied Himself"? Of course He had a God, His Father. Are you really saying Jesus isn't God the Creator?

Col 1 By Jesus all things were created.

Nobody with Christ in him attacks the Christian Bible.
Quoting verse is attacking it?

Or...am I attacking something else by quoting verses?

Think about it.

No, he HAS a God right now as we speak.(per the OP).

And yes, Jesus died before the world was created and his God created everything by, for and through Jesus way back then.

God transcends time.

You met Jesus in Person? Oh my.
7 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

...and that aint no "figure of speech" either.

John answers this.
John 1: 30 This is He of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before me.’ 31 I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water.”
32 And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him.

To reveal who he was. and have a witness of God himself
Hi EG,

I'm thinking that it was Jesus' identification with sinful man, when Sinless God submitted to the baptism of the remission of sin, God's Holy Spirit came upon Him initiating Jesus' ministry of reconciliation.

Much love!

Great Marks, Jesus is our EXAMPLE to show us the way back to God. he subject himself to every thing that we encounter, even sin. tempted, yet without sin.

Good spiritual eyes to see that Marks.

Yes.

Try it, you'll like it.

Don't run to the "scholars" when the going get's tough...
You don't have any idea about me.

Would you like to? I don't mind sharing.

I've come to use the KJV most of the time, but I also use a number of other translations, and also go to the Greek and Hebrew Manuscripts. The Septuagint is simply a Bible translation, just like the KJV, except it was translated by those to whom Ancient Hebrews was not a dead language, unlike those translating it today, who only know it as a dead language.

So if you want to limit your study to a single English translation, sure, you can do that. But that's not what I do. So if we come up with different answers to things, that may have something to do with it.

Much love!
