There. That's the question! What about the future? How do anyone know and are assured now if they don't know what they will do in the future?
Because it is by Jesus' obedience and not our own that we are justified. Being justified is to be forgiven of all sin, and to be born again a new creature, that has no relation to sin, is dead to sin, and alive unto God.
We have been brought to life from among the rest of the dead ones. And it's because Jesus was obedient to the Father. So what does that say about our future? Does Jesus remain obedient?
10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
. . . as those who are alive from the dead, lit. from among the dead ones . . . Reckon yourselves dead to sin but alive to God, because that is what is true.
Yield yourselves unto God as those that were part of dead humanity, but now are alive, and are now free from sin.
Much love!
