Hi Candidus,You can take people to 1 Jn. 1:8 all day long. If they are Christians, it has no application to them at all! You can take people to a single wrenched verse, I can take people to hundreds that say that Christians are to be holy, that sin is incompatible with saving faith... and I have the entire Bible from cover to cover that proves it!
The modern day Gnostic influence is strong in the Church where there is more to be said for sin than against it!
I'm curious, what does this part mean to you?
20 But ye have not so learned Christ;
21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
What is this old man, and what is this new man? What does it mean to put off the old, and put on the new?
Much love!
