@Rita so you guys over there, can you choose when you retire? sometimes work can get to be increasingly a burden; depends on the individual's situation, of course.
I have to wait until I am 67 now ( they put the age up some years ago )
Sadly arthritis in my knee, and problems with my hip ( same leg, and undoubtedly linked to the knee problems ) may lead me to stop work earlier, but it would be complicated financially. I am weighing it all up at the moment. I am on my feet walking for 8hours on my shifts - it’s getting difficult.

Really sorry to learn that; I kind of wondered anyhow but I'm sorry to hear that; you've had a lot to put up with anyway in recent times.

"My times are in thy hand" (Psalm 31.15).

Nothing new - and actually giving up (or at least putting aside) - a number of hobbies. COVID wasn't necessarily the catalyst for the decision - but it's been the final say for some. Over the past few decades I've had a lot of hobbies (probably too many really). Some of these are expensive and I'm putting off to the side (aviation - although I'm doing a bit of simulator at the moment to keep some skills up just incase I do take to the air again) while others are impractical at the moment (such as cave diving). I also can't go shooting at the moment either - although on the plus side - my guns have probably not looked this clean in quite some time :D.

I have gone online a bit more with simulators to spend 'time with friends' in a server and through chat.

I've always been torn between hobbies - in one hand I see them as distractions, or wood, hay and stubble (except for the people I've been able to connect with and witness too - although I haven't seen much fruit from those interactions :(), and on the other hand - with the demands and stress of lifestyle - I can't help think that it's good to have some hobbies at times.

But I realize that the joy from hobbies I have is what the world gives, as opposed to getting it directly from my Heavenly Father - and question whether or not hobbies are something I should have at all. But then when I look at myself - I'm an introvert and very week face to face when it comes to meeting new people and knowing how to socialize well - and I've found hobbies to be a great bridge to connect with people that I otherwise would never have connected with. Is this me justifying having hobbies to start with? I'm not sure.

I am a movie junkie - but have noticed that I'm struggling more and more watching movies these days (especially newer ones). There seems to be lack of creativity - and a lot more underlying themes designed to manipulate people's thinking (or maybe I'm just noticing it more).

As I said - I've always been torn between hobbies. o_O

1 would have to listen to it to really find out hahahahha, it really is a mixture, a blend of country, folk, Irish, blues etc, main instruments you would hear in bluegrass music are banjos, mandolins, acoustic guitars, dobros, fiddles, double bass.
This is the Montgomery general store near my house. Vickie and I use to go there on Fridays but that's been a couple of years ago.
