Isn't "mentally ignoring" something pretty much the same thing as burying your head in the sand? LOL
Well, the truth for me is that the digital Ignore is for when my mental Ignore isn't working.

Why do you believe scripture teaches to condescend to men of low estate?Hi folks :)
The reason I ask is because I have only been here a little over a week and was nicely welcomed, but shortly after that at least one welcomer who really post's a lot here,
turned on me and attacked me pretty harshly, and then a woman here did the same thing. Hey , I've only been here a week and consider myself a pretty, friendly guy, and pretty happy.
I ended up using the "IGNORE Feature" and that helped a lot.
But boy,after reading other posts and topics and how people go at it with each other, with NO LOVE INTENDED, It feels like I'm on one of my other Non-Christian forums, where people like to tear into each other brutally, with no intentions but to destroy their perceived foes..
I thought there was supposed to be a difference

I came here to enjoy sharing in Christ's word, and sharing in different opinions and different perspectives, but I'm wondering how to do that now.
I'm not a fighter and wouldn't think I should need THICK SKIN to be here, but it's almost like people come here to be "GLADIATORS" to fight in the arena of Christian warfare.
I didn't come here to "SURVIVE", but hoped to THRIVE, but maybe that isn't the point here.
Maybe someone here can help me out, and give me some advise - like maybe ...run for your life:).

Solomon offers two different ways to deal with people with foolish opinions. I will admit sometimes I am perplexed which piece of advice to take.
Proverbs 26:4 Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.
5 Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.
One thing for sure is that if I think someone is here to start arguments and to keep them going, I am not going to imitate him. His words are rubbish to me. Why bother reading them? He can find others like him to argue with.

There is a very complicated social dynamic goin on here.
There may be trolls, but they will not stick around long. Same goes for those with overtly evil intention.
Of those here some are seeking fellowship, they are put off by the conflict.
There are those pushing an agenda, their every post drives home some point. These cause conflict, especially among those with opposing agendas.
There are those seeking to help others, they keep the peace.
When someone disagrees there are vastly different methods of persuasion. I disagree with the hostile approach, or the verbose approach. If someone loves the truth they will not need to be beaten with it.
Now we get to the crux of the issue. Since God is Truth should we prioritize doctrine over love for neighbor? Perhaps not for disputable matters, But no one can agree on what is a disputable matter these days.
My personal preference is to leave people to their errors after one warning by anyone, as I am not able to convince anyone. It is only those who love the truth that I would be willing to carry on a discussion about doctrines.

Not really. Burying your head in the sand is refusing to accept reality. Ignoring is refusing to accept inanity.

A troll is one who comes on board with the sole purpose of messing up things -- a mischief maker.
Well, we had 2 potlucks at my church this weekend . . . I think I have expanded!
