... for THIS generation? That's what it looks like from Luke's record.

Are YOU using your purse/bag/sword to "prepare" for two years from now (according to my best understanding) when we won't be able to buy or sell, -- or will you find yourself waiting for Jesus to supply your needs? :)

It was only Peter who walked on water. The other disciples stayed in the boat! And Jesus didn't rebuke them for lack of faith!

Another point: Peter didn't step onto the water until He heard Jesus' summons. Taking a step of extreme risk like that (in any context) without first hearing Jesus' call is not 'faith' but testing God.

Peter being who he was to God, had to embrace Jesus totally, that's the lesson. once you take your eyes off Christ Jesus you are off track. it's all about the Holy Spirit to be your guide.
Gen 1:1-2 talks about the Water.
Not to mention that Gen 1:1 talks about Heaven, so much for the gibberish that the true Jews never believe in Heaven, when it's right their in ones face on the first page for crying out loud.

Actually, I believe two years is way too soon. Probably more like 33. You may be here depending on how young you are, but I'll be with Jesus way before that. Yippee!

The pastor was talking about this tonight that sometimes we have to take a step out of the boat in faith when it comes to following God's will. And then he talked about how we could walk on water like this, that it wasnt just because Jesus was the Son of God that He could walk on water. I don't know. It is thought provoking. He asked us if we would step out of the boat (it was a discussion). I said I honestly would want to know how to swim first, which I do. Lol.

Not sure what the pastor was saying here.
If he was saying that 1) when we hear a word from the Lord to do something , will we step out of boat and walk on that word...or stay in the boat through fear. or 2) Was he talking about literally walking on water ?

Firstly I would say , if he was talking about literal water...I would ask WHY?
For what purpose? To prove what?

Peter heard the word from Jesus "COME." Then and then only did he step out of the boat.

Peter was walking in faith on the word of Jesus to him personally...

If we are in a situation where water is ahead of us and danger behind...we may well hear a word from God saying COME...then and then only would I step out on to the water.

"Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

It's not me "guessing", it's based on Scripture. Apparently you aren't aware of the premise proposed by J.R. Church, (of the TV show "Prophecy In The News", and who "passed" about five years ago), in his 1985 book "Hidden Prophecies In The Psalms".

His viewers wrote in regarding this 19th Book of the Bible, which appears to be prophetic for the 1900's, Chapter for year, such that Book 19, Chapter 44 = 1944 Holocaust (see verses 11 & 22); Book 19, Chapter 48 = 1948 International Recognition of the State of Israel; etc. And the more you know about modern Jewish History, the more the Chapters align with the respective years.

But to your point, I also apparently won't have to worry about the near future. My wife tells me that Life is precious and that Jesus could come for me at any moment; and then she adds: ... if you don't knock it off. So whatever I'm doing, -- I stop. :)

Actually, I based mine on an Old Testament prophecy. It is just my opinion based on Hosea 6:1-3 and the destruction of the temple, the last prophecy about Israel until the last 7 years.

You're citing a FALSE interpretation of the Daniel 9 "seventieth week", which has NOTHING to do with the Tribulation except that the destroyer "shall come" after the seventieth week. Rev. 13:5 says "42 months". And by all evidence we crossed the threshold into the tribulation exactly 70 years after Israel became a State, upon which anniversary Trump recognized Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel, -- May 14, 1948 to May 14, 2018.

BTW I love Prophecy in the News and used to subscribe to their monthly magazine. I learned a lot through them. Great stuff. But no, I haven't read that book. You liked it, huh?

Didn't like the book, but LOVED the premise. And I was able to independently validate the premise through the Daniel 9 prophecy, so the book is TRUE! In fact, given the Scholar's observations which Walvoord compiled in his book "Daniel, The Key To Prophetic Revelation", by Young, Keil, Kliefoth, and others, the Psalms premise is not only validated by the simple text, it's validated by the literal Hebrew textual inferences. That's a three fold confirmation.

So I have no problem with the "Mark of the Beast" in the ~Spring of 2021~, and global thermonuclear war in the ~Fall of 2021~. But first we need to have Ezekiel 38 &39 and Daniel 11:40-44 this summer! :)

Didn't like the book, but LOVED the premise. And I was able to independently validate the premise through the Daniel 9 prophecy, so the book is TRUE! Ummmmmmm, maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see any obvious association to the Tribulation.

Joel 2 (too long to post) clearly is an end-time prophecy.

Daniel 9: 7 And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week; and for half of the week he shall cause sacrifice and offering to cease; and upon the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.”​

This is a two aspect passage. The first half is the seventieth week which has already been fulfilled. The second half comes after the seventieth week, where the destroyer "shall come" and is destroyed. If properly rendered, the "semi colon" would be a "period", and the word "And" would be the start of a new sentence.

But that's what happens when Hebrew has no capitalization or punctuation. :)

Walking on water. I have thought about many times. I always git a image in my mind of a path that stops at the bank of a fast moving river, and on the other side is a sign that said, get faith to walk on water with a arrow pointing to a tent, with a sign over the door that said faith to walk on water sold here.

Odds of these "coincidences" are 26 Billion to 1.

Something appears to be significant for 2018 which includes the United States recognizing Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel.

Rev. 13:5 And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months​

May 14, 2018 plus 42 months = Fall of 2021, when the Multi-day Feasts are held, and we don't know Which DAY or Which HOUR. Some might be proficient enough to know the FEAST, -- but not me. I'm content knowing the Season! :)

I hope people are preparing for the ~Spring of 2021~ when they won't be able to buy or sell ...

They should have looked at Jesus, got down and curled up next to Jesus and gone to sleep!

That is exactly an example of walking in the Spirit. We do whatever we see the Spirit doing. Jesus said He didn't do ANYTHING that He didn't see the Father doing in heaven. We are to do the same.

Too many times we take it upon ourselves to do something. This is especially true with men because it is in their makeup to fix things. Just look to the Spirit and follow His lead.

Both. The discussion moved into the question if we could. And he mentioned special faith. Like you said. That it has to have a purpose and you have to hear Jesus calling.

It ain't me that's saying things. You've confused what comes from the Pulpit as though it came from the Scriptures. I merely cited Scripture, including verse 9 in which AFTER Jesus died on the cross, GOD EXALTED HIS SON! :)

people can't read your mind...sometimes it's not easy to connect the scripture with what you're saying....

Not tribulation, but the mention of the early and latter rain is in both. Early rain of the Spirit was Pentecost. Latter rain is now. (The dark ages were the long dry summer that turned into a famine from Pergamos through Sardis.) That's just how I see church history.
