Should I be rebaptised?

Absolutely not. I started my Christian walk as part of the CoE. My vicar was born again and Spirit filled and that's where the foundations of my faith were laid with the help of this lovely Godly man and his wife who weren't just clergy but true Christians. Many people who are born again choose to stay within the denominations but it wasn't to be my path.

But I suspect that all 'churchgoers' believe in God and in Jesus but may not necessarily have taken that step of really inviting him into their lives. One can believe without being born again (I know this from my own experience) and I learned a long time ago that this can also apply to clergy, i.e. vicars, ministers or priests and even bishops. They have the knowledge and the beliefs but without that all important personal relationship.

Yes I do believe abortion is against moral and Christian law. But then not everyone is a Christian and they have as much right to their views as we do. I do not in any way condone abortion.

Well that's a bit simplistic but yes, more or less. I believe what we used to call the creed. As for abortions or gay marriages etc., if those who practice those things aren't Christian then like everybody else they have a right to their own opinions. As for a man forgiving sin I believe that as a Christian I am part of a holy priesthood and because the veil of the temple was split in two I no longer need the services of a priest as intermediary between me and God. Before I was saved I was a sinner and separated by that sin from God. But once I accepted Jesus as my Saviour my sin was washed away and I am now a saint with direct access to the Father's throne. I have come out of darkness into the light.

1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

In the Old Testament, there were three levels of Priests:
Aaron, the High Priest
The Levitical Priesthood
The rest of the people were a General priesthood of believers.

In the New Testament, there are also three levels of Priests:
Jesus, our High Priest (1 Tim. 2:5, Heb. 7:22-25)
The Ministerial Priests (James 5:14-15)
The General priesthood of all Christians (1 Peter 2:5-9).

Just as with all New Testament fulfillments, the fulfillment is always more glorious than the Old Testament type.

Finally, in the Epistle of Jude, we read the warning about those who would usurp Church Authority by assuming the ministerial priesthood without the Church’s consent (Jude 1:11). In this passage he compares them to the Rebellion of Korah and their subsequent punishment (Numbers 16:1-35; 31:16).

Actually - a person's "rights" only go as far as they begin to infringe on somebody else's rights.
A woman may have the "right" to do whatever she wishes wish with her own body - but the body growing inside her in NOT hers to end.

If you believe "rights" are limitless - go scream, "Fire!", in a crowded movie theater and see what happens . . .

We are always going to believe that we have a better understanding of the baptism we received. I do not think our opinion has much to do with it - after all, God chooses us, we do not choose Him.

I really like that Stranger. My experience was similar. I believed in God all my life but I was 36 when I became a born-again Christian by turning to Jesus. Just as know the date of my natural birth I also know the date and time of my spiritual re-birth. And that's when I became a member of the One True Church. The Church that is made up of the followers of Jesus and not just church goers of whatever denomination.

You, like MOST anti-Catholics abuse the words of Christ in Matt. 23:8-9.
He never forbade calling anybody "Father" or "Teacher". He forbade considering people "Father" or "Teacher" - ABOVE our Father and Teacher in Heaven.

What I did was to show you how stupid your position is by illustrating the MANY instances in the Bible where men ARE called "Father" and "Teacher" - whether it is literal or figurative.

We Catholics refer to our priests as "Father" in the SAME way Paul called himself "Father" to the Corinthians or to Timothy or to Onesimus. Or the way ALL Christians refer to the Early Church Fathers - and even your Protestant Fathers.

Again, you're arguing with yourself. You wanted to claim Luther as my Protestant 'Father'. As far as I am concerned you can call anyone you want as 'Father'. I don't care. But Luther is not my 'Father'. And those who were of the Reformation are not my Fathers.

Me too Nancy. I had my three children 'done' it was the respectable thing to do but it was at my youngest's so-called baptism that I got born again. And the difference started immediately. Even though I didn't really understand what had happened to me. The world looked so much brighter and more beautiful somehow.
