No, I agree with the Ecumenical Creeds. Christendom believes any church not in agreement is a cult.

I haven't belonged to any church group since leaving formal Catholicism that was not considered a cult by someone. If we have to walk it alone as Jesus was willing to do here...:

Sorry no experience with any of those. I only ever tried marijuana [in California] and Hashisch [in Germany] and those were short lived experiences. My only regular natural "highs" were from alcohol on purpose and once from paint fumes by accident.

My lesson with the pastor was that I simply that believed in him until he made it clear that he was not to be trusted or believed... certainly not followed... but he always had a hard core following.

Does it? Without looking it up I would define orthodox as what I call mainstream Protestants which may include several denominations but certainly a very large part of the US population. Catholic I would define as universal although it definition through usage has changed for people not belonging to the Catholic Church.

I spent the time from age 6 to age 18 as an active and even a devout Catholic. Orthodox meaning Protestant never unless that is what I was prior to age 6.

As to the cult. I have always avoided calling anyone in any church called Christian a cult member no matter what other people might say. I 've met the Mormons and JWs at the door and always tried to deal with them honestly with what I would call Christian charity. Especially the Mormons were usually very sincere in what they were doing. The JWs almost never came back so I did not get to know them.

The young Mormons on the other hand had very good discussions with me about the Bible and Jesus. Better discussions than I have been able to have with most people labeled Christian main stream. I learned more from them about Mormonism than from my brother and his wife who were Mormons for many years.

I do hear you about having issues attending services other place though-- scheduling have too prevented me from attending other services remotely as much as I'd like. Hence my more reaching out online (including this forum). If you want i can give you a recommendation of other good/decent places online, depending what you're looking for.

Since then with my wife's especially poor health and my own occasional health difficulties I have never seriously considered arranging any more visits. On top of that my old pastor depends heavily on me. We keep on thinking he'll pass from this life soon, but he holds on and continues ministering. At 93 he has been a widower for 6 years and is very frail but God isn't finished with him yet. It will honestly be a relief when the extra burden on me is gone even though I love that old man.

As for other online contacts, thank you but I must pass. I belong to many online Christian forums now as I have never quit a forum in the many years I've been on the Internet. Helen [@"ByGrace" ] has known me on a few of them for better than 10 years. But most of them of course I rarely visit anymore or some may no longer exist. Thank you for your kindness.

It's fantastic to hear about your great pastor and that you've found good homes online. I've found that... online can be a rough place. I do like it here.

Do you have any bible study books or study bibles? Creeds are no different. You benefit from some and reject others. But to lump them all together and shun them doesn't make sense.

Do you know who the Methodists, early Baptists, Presbyterians, and Reformed identify as Antichrist? It's all there. And if they are right, most today are barking up the wrong tree.
