Viruses and parasites are not the same.
- Parasites are larger, living organisms that can survive outside a host, while viruses are smaller, non-living particles that need a host to reproduce.
1
- Parasites derive nutrients from their host, whereas viruses replicate only inside the living cells of other organisms.
1
- While viruses can be considered a type of parasite, they are classified separately as obligate intracellular parasites, meaning they cannot replicate outside a host.
2
- From a traditional perspective, a parasite is defined as an organism that lives on or inside a host, obtaining its nutrients by harming the host’s tissues.

Thus, while there are similarities, they have distinct characteristics and classifications.
from viroliteracy.
they are different genus species and family. Viruses are treated differently than parasites.
You do realize that this "virus" was genetically engineered? That's a Pandora's box.
Secondly, it's a bit like the chicken or the egg debate. It is no debate for me, as I believe God who created the chickens who then laid eggs. However, science would not conclude that, unless Christian.
Viruses
"✱ All viruses are obligate intracellular parasites as they cannot reproduce outside the host cell, e.g., bacteriophages, AIDS virus (HIV), human papilloma virus (HPV), tobacco mosaic virus (TMV), etc., at all."
"Parasites do not cause viruses. However, parasites can harbor viruses that may or may not affect the parasite itself or, indirectly, its host. This is an area of ongoing research."
So a tick does not
cause Lyme disease? A mosquito does not
cause Malaria? As far as science is concerned, nope.. but if you get bitten by a tick with Lyme you get Lyme- a virus. Mosquito bites you with Malaria - you get the malaria virus.
So- chicken and egg type of thing. I am not a scientist. However, most people know that ticks can give you the lyme virus and mosquitoes carry malaria virus--- We don't want to get either, and do not care about the various theories in the scientific world, which are ever changing. So, they use
preventatives, so they don't catch those viruses from those parasites. Hopefully, natural ones..
Science--- a little DDT anyone?
I am a gardener, and I have seen tobacco mosaic virus. It affects about 350 plant species, tomatoes, potatoes, peppers etc.. How do I prevent it from occurring? BY PREVENTING THE PARASITES that cause/spread it.
That alone, for me is proof of the prophylactic use of something such as, ivermectin. - I cannot speak to the killing of the virus once in the cells. IDK. I have heard very good things and it is quite safe!
I am not pretending to know it all, and neither should any of us. We live in a very corrupt place where truth is made to look like a lie and visa versa on a daily basis. Science evolves. Pluto is not a planet. Manipulation of viruses is happening in science labs. I see no moratorium on gain of function. Once can hope.
And all we can do is pray and use our common sense.
I often learn by nature, quite accidentally, and God's creation sure can teach us a lot. -Job 12
